Illam Hotel - Hotel in Chennai - Chennai, India

I stayed at this property during August 17-20, when I went to Apollo Cancer Centre for treatment of my Father in law. This hotel is very suitable for those who come to this hospital for treatment. It is just around 200 meter away from Apollo Cancer Centre. The room was very nice and bathroom was clean. One restaurant named 'Double Roti' is attached to the hotel. Mainly fast food is available in this restaurant and this is not suitable for lunch or dinner. However, there are some restaurant nearby. There was a very big lift in the hotel and it could accommodate even car. However, I don't like one thing of the hotel. That is the unprofessional attitude. Just one day before check in, I visited the hotel for booking. The manager showed me two types of room viz. Room with one Double bed and Room with two single bed. I clearly told them that we need the room with one double bed. However next day when we checked in, the hotel failed to provide us the preferred room. They didn't keep the room for us. That is the reason, I am not rating 5 star. Overall, the hotel was OK and is considered as a suitable accommodation for treatment at Apollo Cancer Centre.

Illam home is one of the safest & cofortable shelter of patient parties that is near from Apollo Cancer Hospital,though its rent is little high.

Convenient location. Reasonable price. The room maintenance may be improved a bid. In overall its a good choice to stay near near Nandanam. Even the metro station is in walkable distance. They also have decent restaurant in ground floor which is till 12AM. If you are looking 3 Star Hotel then go for it.

Booking this hotel was a mistake as it is absolutely not value for money. Unlike the description and advertised images, many facilities were missing from the hotel. * No Mini Fridge was provided * No water heater (kettle) was present * No bathroom towels were given * There was no bucket or mug in the bathroom * WiFi was not present, had to rely on mobile data only * Set Top Box was not working, so TV was a useless box * The bedsheets were not cleaned, and one had blood stains (see image) * There was no chair or stool or table provided, so I had to keep my laptop and also eat on the bed itself * One of the wall-tables near the bed was removed * They charge more than the MRP - Rs50 for a Rs38 cold drink * I had to rely on Swiggy and Zomato to meet my daily needs For Rs16315 for 8 nights (Rs2040/night), this hotel was a waste of money. I will never live here again and would not recommend this to anyone. Even zero-star Guest Houses would provide better value for money.

As it was in convenient location for my purpose, I stayed at Illam hotel for 5 nights. First impression I got was a little uncomfortable as the gentleman at the reception was not that smiley/friendly. I didn't feel I was welcome then. When I walked in to the room, there was no fridge, tea&coffee, water, amenities etc. but they were all brought in by hotel staff within 20min or so. Room was clean, bed was comfortable and hot water was there too although it got less hot after sometime (long enough while I was having shower). Wifi was supposed to be there but I could hardly connect to it, so I used my data most of the time. On the first morning, I was expecting to start the breakfast (included in the room rate) at 8am as I was told it would start by then, but there was no one around and I had to ask the security man to see whom I can ask. I think the man at the reception came late on that day... Anyhow I manage to get some dosai & egg on that day on time. This incident was a little annoying as I had to go to work in a hurry after that. I talked to the hotel manager & staff, and in the following days I could get toasts/butter/jam & egg on time (it would have been good if there's a bit of fruits as well). According to the manager, it used to be buffet breakfast but they don't have enough guests to do it, so now it's prepared individually. Location wise, it's close to some consulates so I felt quite safe to walk around, at the same time there's not so many restaurants nearby....but you can manage with deliveries. There's also one restaurant attached to the hotel. With the rate I paid, I think my stay was comfortable enough. Will I stay there again? Yes!

The hotel is Very Safe for Family. I stayed here previously. That time it was awesome. Rooms are clean and Neat but the property seems like very old. So if they maintain well as like new that will be great. I will stay here during my next visit.

Nice quiet place off the main Road at Teynampet, Chennai. Rustic finish but clean with good linen. Window screens require mending. Food is good but not elaborate and more in line with small no star hotels. Friendly cooperative staff. Good value for money.

The location is great, right in the heart of the city's fashion/shopping district. All the high end stores are close by, so those who love to shop are well looked after. It's also close to the train station, trams and the bus terminal, so public transport isn't a problem. The room was well appointed with most of the facilities and really nicely done interior design.
