Main Entrance of INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY BOMBAY. TOP NOTCH College in India. I have just reached outside only . This college is a dream for lakhs of students all over India. I think without identity Card ppl aren't allowed inside not sure about this .
If You are visitor then you come from IIT main gate because visitors are always allowed from this gate only. And if you have a IIT Bombay Residential Card or any student then u go from market gate also. Now the metro is coming at the front of IIT so it is more benifitial for visitor and time saving.
From main gate of IIT bus stop lots of bus available for Thane, bhandup, koparkhairne, panvel, Malad, Goregav.But again travel by bus at evening is hectic process due to traffic. Better way to take bus for near by railway station and avoid road traffuc. It is good to travelling on the afternoon or before 5 pm

IIT Bombay was founded in 1958. In 1961, the Parliament decreed IITs as Institutes of National Importance.A committee formed by the Government of India recommended the establishment of four higher institutes of technology to set the direction for the development of technical education in the country in 1946. Planning began in 1957 and the first batch of 100 students was admitted in 1958. Since its establishment in Powai, the institute has physically expanded to include more than 584 major buildings with a combined area of more than 2.2 square kilometers.
This place needs some good amount of cleaning. Also, there isn't enough place to stand, so people are generally out on the road. The only good thing is that you can get a bus to almost anywhere in Mumbai.

It was clean and I had a blast cycling on the route to the kanheri caves. If you wanna have peaceful ride go and cycle through the route and some other core part.
