The road to the point is a little tricky. As Idukki dam was closed for the public, there was nobody for boating. The place was deserted. The ticket counter is located in the entrance. We had to wait for more than 30 minutes. Then another family came for boating. The boating then started with four people. Boating was nice. Bathroom facilities is provided but in very bad state.
Wonderful!! Boating through Idukki dam reservoir was a superb. Ticket fee was really fare, it cost only 125 per head and u will get a ride of about 45mins. Its wonderful to experience both idukki dam and cheruthoni dam from the nearest. 3:30 is the closing time.
The boating at this point is worthy as we can witness to the arch dam and the shutter together. they will not take you to the extream near to the dam but roaming over the water almost 30 mins. minimum 5 people required to start the boating and the fare is 145 per head.

Upon a 5 min drive from the ticket counter downhill a curvy road that runs thru a thick forest, the boating starting point appears from nowhere out of the green canopy as a beautiful surprise to the tourist - like the sight of the vast sea to the diver swimming out of a cove. One can park one's vehicle at the end of the road and walk down the slopes of the reservoir to reach the boarding point. The boatmen would help you fasten the life jackets and would also give you a good briefing about the dam and its history. The whole trip lasts about 45 mins.
Wonderful place...even I've already visited Iduki Dam Park Twice this time only took a boat ride...Very Nominal Cost for 30 mins of Boating travel in a Beautiful Evening sunset time thanks to my friend who took me and My fellow friends as his Birthday Trip... It's an amazing experience. When you visit Idukki Dam never miss the boating arranged by the authorities. The boating ticket costs 130ruppees for half an hour. Videography and photography are allowed during the boating. But it's prohibited when we enter the Dam. I loved the experience as even the climate was lovely during our ride. The breathtaking view of Cheruthoni Dam and Idukki Arch Dam together in front of our sights is something that is to be treasured forever.
Wonderful experience. A half an hour long trip through the reservoir. We took the 4:30 pm (last trip) ride . The cool breeze, the mesmerizing greenery all around and the gentle glide across the green water body is awesome! You can see the Cheruthoni dam, the vyshali cave and the Arch dam from within the reservoir They need minimum 5 member batch to book a ride. We were a group of three, but luckly another couple arrived in time and we booked as a group. Tip: the boating dock is near the Cheruthoni dam road. The ticket counter is opposite the Chemban Kolumban samadhi on the Idukki -Thodupuzha road
