There is very less water flowing during other seasons because of the Hirakud dam. The place is also famous for the fishes around the river and a tale of a lady who tried to kill a fish and converted into a stone while cutting it. So no one catches fishes in the temple area. One can enjoy jhal-mudhi outside the temple. It was so yummy.

There are thousands of fish each can weight 3-5 kg. It is believed that those who feed these fish, they blessed by Lord Shiva. It is alsobelieved that those who tried to catch these fish are turns into stone by the curse.
