Jigar palace house boat, Rooms are good, neat n clean, only it's location is at the end of Dal lake, alone house boat. Nearby area is covered with water grass, that create mosquitoes. Service is average.

Dal Lake is home of nimberous house boats which give a chance to peep into local culture and Life. Expecting hotel-like amenities and service is not fair but it's actually very different from that. The local vendors kill the joy of staying in a houseboat. You usually encounter 15-20 vendors in a day. You can't even sit on the deck and enjoy the beuty

Great for a peaceful & calm stay within Dal Lake. Away from hustle and crowd of tourists and situated in a peaceful setup.

We had bookings in Jigar palace group of houseboats. We didn't knew the location and we had trusted Google maps but when we were actually taken to the houseboat we were shocked as it was at a very secluded place at the fag end of all the houseboats and no further houseboat after this. In case we had known the exact location we wouldn't have booked this. The rooms were ok though bathroom taps leaked, the service was indeed poor as their was no morning tea or coffee at rooms and the food offered was not hot as it was warm. The guys managing the food and services were always rushing as it was during the Ramadan period and was disturbing for them. The water of the dal lake is not hygienic at all as its stagnant and smells pretty pungent at various places. So I would not recommend tourists to stay in houseboats and pollute the water more of the lake. Rather enjoy the beauty of the lake while having shikara ride in the lake at several times. Let us not pollute the lake more and stay at hotels which are located at the banks of the lake in land.

Best place to stay in Dal Lake. Staffs are very hospitable. Food served was very tasty . Overall it was a pleasant stay.

we stayed in Jigar Palace Houseboat. This is perhaps the last amongst the houseboats present in the Dal Lake and hence it offers great privacy and no external noise. The houseboat is well maintained and the staff (Altaf) was most helpful. From the time we landed until we left the next day, he promptly attended to every one of our calls (even late in the night at around 10:15 PM) and never did we have to remind him the 2nd time for anything. Dinner is served after 8:30 PM and breakfast is served at 8:30 AM. It takes about 15 odd minutes of ride by a boat/shikara to get to the ghat. So one must factor these details in their planning. Since the place is surrounded by Dal Lake, I suspect winters could be quite cold and one needs to be better prepared.

Staffs are not well behaved, location is also not so scenic. Rooms are decorated but room heaters are not working

Unfortunately can't give less than 1 rating. Location is extremely pathetic, mouse in the boat!, taste of food was very bad, door lock wasn't working (yes, we were stuck multiple times in the room!) , no tissue rolls in the bathroom, staff was cooperative.
