Food was okay ish. But the service! Ugh!!! It was so slow.. Even though there waiters running throughout the hotel nobody came to our table for almost 20 minutes. They were asking people who already started eating whether they want sth else for almost 2,3 times. And the real comedy was when the food arrived. We ordered masala dosa and ghee roast and when the food arrived the waiter to know which is which touched the food with his bare hand, the same one which used to carry other peoples plates, waste and what not. Even at the counter the person there had no time to make eye contact with customer, only his hands were to take money went there with high expectations and returned with utter disappointment and disgust.
Very good south Indian food is especially without coconut oil. Hygiene is maintained well. Good hospitality by the staff. Recommended for people who prefer South Indian food.
I took Veg meals as Lunch. The food is on Tamil style and they are offering two curries in that taste. They are serving applam instead of pappadam. Restaurant is neat and clean. Staff are very supportive.
This place is famous for vegetarian food. I tried Their ellu podi dosa and garlic podi dosha. Both are good.
Friendly and quick service and the food is very good as well. Especially the garlic podi dosa.
Whenever I travel, I love to eat the local cuisine, or visit places that are famous in that particular city. Instead of eating the breakfast in the hotel we stayed in, my friends and I decided to visit Hotel Sree Vaishnaves. This is one of the most popular restaurants in Kannur and once we read the reviews, we were tempted to try out the place. As it can get very crowded in the morning, we decided to go right when it opens. The weather was quite cool as it had rained in the night, so we took a short and sweet walk to our destination. The restaurant is situated on the side road, so there is ample parking for two and four wheelers. We were the first set of customers that day. The restaurant is spacious and bright with comfortable seating. As soon as we sat down, the waiter came to our table and recited the items available for breakfast. When I heard the word, "Pongal," I knew that is what I was going to order because Pongal - especially the typical South Indian style from Tamil Nadu, is my all time favorite. Though I'm not a fan of ghee, I don't mind a few drops here and there in the Pongal. The condiments of Sambhar and Coconut Chutney complemented the Pongal perfectly. To wash this down, I ordered a tumbler of hot and frothy filter coffee. My friend ordered a plate of Masala Dosa which was served with Sambhar and Chutney. The Dosa is so huge, that it can be shared with another person! There was generous amount of the potato filling too. Another friend ordered a plate of single Vada. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Just like the other dishes, the Vada was also served with Sambhar and Chutney. Finally, my other friend ordered a Plain Dosa which she said tasted yummy. The Tamilian style Sambhar is something different from the kind you get anywhere else. The amalgamation of the powders is what enhances the flavor and makes you want to eat more spoonfuls. The food was delicious, the prices were quite reasonable, service was quick and the hand wash area was clean too. Near the billing counter, there were some packets of snacks kept for sale like Banana Chips, Tapioca Chips, Mixture, Murukku, etc. I would highly recommend Hotel Sree Vaishnaves for a delicious vegetarian and authentic Tamilian breakfast. Don't miss it!
The hotel seems like a very normal hotel. Nothing fancy. Spacious enough to accomodate many people at a time. Ordered masala dosa but it did not taste good at all.
Had Channa Batura and Masala dosa. Masala dosa is good. The channa is just another nadan channa curry. Not the one you get in other north indian restaurants and they don't even serve lemon slice or onion along with it. The lady waiters, are not into doing they're jobs. They are busy in their own world discussing the serial stories.
One of the best vegetarian restaurant in Kannur. Special items are available only after 5pm. All the foods are very tasty. Chenamasala and batoora is a must try item. Idly and vada also so soft and tasty. Paneer masala dosa is nice. And so.. A must t
