This review is just about the restaurant. Good food. Honey crispy chicken was amazing. Came here for the first time and I must say this place will be my go too dinner/party place for special occasions.

This hotel is just amazing. play area for kids, Mall road is nearby, there are local eating shops nearby too. plus they arrange food for kids on demand. five stars for the hospitality stay and everything. Thank you hotel Southgate! would like to visit again in the upcoming years.
The best thing I impressed with this Hotel is their Staff Specially Front Desk Officer Mr. Ankit. We advance booked some other Hotel in Shimla for our stay. But for some reasons we were not stayed there. And by luck we got an opportunity to visit and stay at Hotel Southgate. I stayed their with my family (Parents, Wife and Daughter). This hotel is highly recommended to stay and to have food.
I was there on a work trip. Spent three nights, then a break and another two nights. The hotel is little outside the buzzing parts of Shimla, therefore quiet. All rooms overlook the valley so you get stunning vistas of the setting run. It can get noisy if there is an event, so better to ask for a room on the higher floors or the new wing. The restaurant serves a limited buffet breakfast and OK-OK food for lunch and dinner. Drinks are expensive. You can walk to the Mall, it takes 20-30 minutes. Service is quick. The rooms need to be spruced up. There is parking on the premises.
One word Review: PATHETIC
1.) After reading a lot of positive (fake) reviews, I booked a super deluxe room, but they gave me a deluxe room.
2.) I booked a super deluxe room bcz of balcony, but leave it, even window was not there so "Suffocation "
3.) The door was tight, bathroom lock was broken, wet bedsheets, water leakage, foul smell.
So the room was a complete wastage of money for which I hv paid them 5000
4.) The receptionist, useless guy.
Conclusion- Don't waste your money by reading some reviews and looking some pictures of this hotel, You won't get any of them in reality. Rest is yours.
This place is well decorated and very well maintained. Offers lodging and a very good restaurant. Offers Indian and Chinese cuisines.
Foods are well prepared and served hot . The spice level is moderate. This is a good place for lunch and dinner.
The location was good. Staff and room service was also good.. The only concern was that it was rain days and water was leaking just in front of room gate.. They should cover that area with lintel.

This review is based on my expirience in the restraunt. Unprofessional staff. Specifically the guards assisting parking are pathetic, rude, uncouth and unapologetic. When the issue was brought to light to the manegerial staff, not much was done to ensure avoiding such a behaviour again. Hope the authorities take this seriously and work towards this illmannered behaviour.
