Hotel Sonar Bangla - Sundarban - Hotel in Gosaba, Dulki - 24 Paraganas South, India

We stayed at Hotel Sonar Bangla, Sundarbans last week (mid November, 2023). Disclaimer: This is going to be a long review. :-) 1.Getting to the property First off, let me talk about the service prior to arrival. I received a call the day before arrival giving me detailed instructions on how to get to the property which involves a short ferry trip from Ghadkali Jetty followed by a 20 minute trip on EAuto to the property. We were met my staff of Hotel Sonar Bangla at the Ghadkali JEtty on arrival and they promptly arranged the transportation to the hotel. Just getting to the property was such a beautiful experience, especially on the Eauto part going through the narrow roads with fields or houses and fish ponds on either side. A sight to behold and set the tone for the next couple of days stay there. 2. Rooms On arriving at the property, which is extremely beautiful and very well maintained , we were checked in to the premier room with a lovely view of the outdoor. The rooms are extremely well appointed and maintained very well. The furniture was simple, yet extremely classy and functional. So were the bathrooms and bath amenities. Very well thought out interiors which makes for a very comfortable and cosy stay. 3. Common areas/amenities The property has a nice pool, kids outdoor play area, kids indoor /games zone, bikes that you can use to go around the property and a lovely restaurant where we ate all our meals. The food was pretty good and the service was really fantastic as well. My favourite was the numerous ponds on site which had lovely lilies that bloomed at night. Such a lovely sight. 4. Sundarbans boat tour We opted to take the Sundarbans boat tour arranged by the hotel. It is an all day tour that starts around 7AM and goes on till 3PM. The nice thing is you get the entire boat to yourself, along with a a guide and couple of folks to navigate the boat. This was one of the highlights of the trip for us. We got a female guide from the local community. I was very happy to see this as this provides a good means to support the local community. The boat itself was very comfortable, clean and well maintained with a clean toilet on board and places to rest in the lower deck if needed. We cruised slowly through the Mangroves which gave an opportunity to see a lot of wildlife - wild boar, spotted deer, crocodile, different species of birds, lizards etc. Overall an excellent experience. T1 Best resort in its vicinity. Cordial staff, delicious food but a little expensive. It's located very close to the actual forest, there is a pathway that connects the hotel directly to the deck for safari. Wheel chair facilities available and totos too within the resort premises. However check in guidelines mentioned below 18 years of age weren't allowed, but we did see a lot of kids...

This my second time in this property and will certainly go back again. It's one of the finest hotel in West Bengal. It's huge with thousands of trees , lot of shallow, the place just looks too good. They have swimming pool , kids indoor and outdoor games options, they have opened a bar as well. Only negetive I would say food isn't that great, certainly has a lot of room for improvement. Everything else is just perfect.

An unimaginably beautiful resort, designed in perfection, with best of amenities and services. Luxury suites, fine dinig , bar, convention hall, beautiful pool and cultural events add to the list. Best part is it's food, a la carte as well as buffet. Very affordable. Recommended to visit.

We stayed there for 2 nights and the experience was awesome. The rooms were spacious with all the amenities. The food was delicious but prices were on the higher side. However, the portion size comensurated the prices. Well mannered staff and a lovely view from the balcony ensured we had a pleasant stay.

Hotel Sonar Bangla is a treasure in the lap of nature . Great property with world class facilities. I have been visiting many tourist places abroad and can genuinely say that the hygiene is at par with international standards. River safari organised by this hotel is a safe and memorable experience. Staffs are friendly and very responsive.

While the property is quite beautiful, food is pathetic. I got food poisoning with just one meal. Besides, staffs are rude and lack curtsey. Their behaviour is quite unbecoming of an expensive hotel like this. Disappointed!
