Although the hotel is licensed to accept westerners I think it is geared up more for nationals. The positive things about my stay: The room I stayed in was clean and tidy, hot running water and it looked out over residential buildings. The staff were very accommodating. The negative thing about the location: There is a smelly rubbish dump only a few yards away and in the 35+ degree heat it stank bad. The negative thing about my 1 night stay was I ended up not feeling safe. In the night my door handle was tried 3 times to be opened and at 4am I had a knock on the door and were greeted by 2 men talking in the hallway. I just closed the door unnoticed and tried to get back to sleep. I moved to another hotel for the next 2 nights of my stay in Varanasi
We had a lovely and pleasant stay in Hotel SJR. The Rooms were very comfortable and spacious. And the main advantage of our stay at SJR was that the location of the hotel is very convenient for public transport. And to mention Mr.Sujeet Pathak G/M of hotel were very helpful and very good at their designated job.. Best wishes to Hotel SJR and Team!!
Amazing hotel with great service. We booked a family room for 4 people (adults) which includes a double bed and a single bed and the double bed is quite big for 3 people to sleep comfortably. They usually charge it for 4k / night but we got it for 3k per night . They also have parking facilities if you are traveling by car . It is almost 10-15 minutes away from ghats amd you can get an e-rikshaw to drop you at ghat from rs.100-150 max .
Avoid at all costs! We were given a room with molds and dampness. The facility had no little or no hot water supply in December. The bed sheets provided had stains that felt like they were not cleaned for many days. The room service was slow during our visit; the elevator was not working either. Bed size is very small. It's not standard size bed. The hotel overlooks some animal shelters, so there are many goats, cows, and chickens as you step out of the hotel. Zero points for ambiance thus!
