Hotel Silver Fir - Hotel in Gangtok - Gangtok, India

I went there in 2017. My experience was amazing. Staffs r very good. That time the hotel owner was a Bengali. We enjoyed a lot.

The hotel is very good. Staff behavior is also very good. A view of the entire mg marg is available from the windows of the hotel. Food is very good and Bengali food is available in Dabar. And arranges a car for sightseeing

*disclaimer * it is a long review but I urge the reader to go through the entire post. Many misconceptions about the hotel will be cleared. . A very old hotel in the heart of MG marg. It has been around for a long time and the people running the place take great pride in the long heritage of the place. Before our stay there were many mixed reviews and honestly my friends and I were a but apprehensive. So a couple of days before checking in we decided to do a little recon of the place. A regular 'complaint' of the place is that they don't let people in or out after 9pm. That is actually inaccurate. There are instructions from the local authorities to down their shutters after 9pm as a security measure. The manager Bapi Mondal who is mostly available at the reception explained this and we were able to come to an understanding with him. As our group would stay out for dinner and return around 9:30-10pm a prior intimation was given to the Bapi da and he ensured a smooth line of communication. Both nights during our stay we were out at night and returned we'll after 9pm but everything went smoothly. Also, another recurring 'complaint' is about the behaviour of the staff. They are not inherently rude nor do they misbehave without reason. A little courtesy will earn you a lot of courtesy from the staff. Causing inconvenience to other hotel guests is not tolerated by the management. Finally, coming to the rooms. The hill facing rooms have breathtaking views. However, the rooms can be improved upon. This hotel caters to a specific crowd and that's absolutely fine. The onus is on the guests to make an informed decision.

Stayed here on 8th Nov 2022. We were team of 14. Location - Very good. Near a market place. But in a little high. So not clumsy. Kanchanghanga visible from common balcony. Cleanness - Very good. Service - No sope to complain. Very well behaved coperative staff and manager. Fooding - Fresh food served . But in veg thali only one veg item was served and this was not in sufficient quantity. This was only the deficiency seen.

Rooms quality is ok but their food quality is very good and staff behaviour is also fabulous.

Owner,manager and all staff behaviour is very bad.their is no manners how to treat a guest.this is not a hotel they treat like a school hostel. The list of wrong things they doing with us are listed below 1. After 9 am not a proper geyser facility. 2.they are not provide sufficient drinking water. 3. They are interfere our personal matter. 4.they are posted hotel boy all the time on every door.

Spoiler hotel... Infrastructure is too bad , suffocating rooms...Bad smell around the room... Toilet is useless. Behavior of hotel staffs and receptionist is very cheap...Have no courtesy fooding system is very bad , foods are low quality, left over food serving day by day .

Been here thrice. Owner and manager bapi mandal is both courteous and helpful. Average decor, good service, good views, food can be availed, all trips arranged from hotel. Great view of m g marg and mountains.
