HOTEL SARAVANA BHAVAN - South Indian restaurant in Chennai - Chennai, India

I tried ghee masala dosa and loved it. The variety of chutneys, especially the coconut one, is my favorite. Sambar tasted average. It is slightly overpriced, but the quantity is more than sufficient for one person. Filter coffee was okay. Staff were very friendly.

This hotel is the best example for how quick a hotel can go from the best to the worst. I went with my family for lunch. The meals was below average. Any vegetarian hotel in Chennai would serve a better meal. The mini-meal was even worse. The taste and quality has degraded to the lowest possible. Once, Saravana bhavan's Sambar was the best in Chennai and today we can't even taste it. The rice they serve seems to be IR 20 variety. Overall, one of the worst experiences in recent times.

Absolutely loved this place. Way better then Delhi one. Cleanliness was well maintained, prompt service. They have hung beautiful hand paintings all around the sitting area. Wished to take one of them home. We tried their breakfast tiffin, onion dosa, Idiyappam and coconut milk which was wonderful.

Absolutely poor hotel with poor menu and poor servers, you order food and you don't get any confirmation of it and you have to order food repeatedly. Poor atmosphere, uncleaned and unhygienic. Don't waste your time in this hotel, better go fasting than eating in this hotel

Saravana Bhavan has a major hype when it comes to South Indian restaurants in Delhi. So, while on my visit to Chennai, I wanted to have its experience at the place it initiated. I tried their Lunch meal which, as seen in the pic, was a vibrant platter of various curries served with rice, and Payasam. The taste was good and the vibe of the place felt authentic. On the downside, I felt that the staff was a little less responsive. I also bought a pack of their store-packed snack called Seedai, which I didn't like much. Overall, this is a great recommendation for any tourist looking for a good South Indian lunch.

The quality of food is going down day by day. The foot fall is also very less compared to few years back. The taste has down and as well as the service. The staff also seems to be less motivated which is having an impact on their service level. Even the neatness in the uniform of the staff has gone.

I came hotel at 7:55 pm and it's half an hour and it is also not that much crowd but the service was too late same situation was Facing by other customers And we also informed waiter 3 times but no response and the food we orders dosa was not completely coocked when we complained about this the waiter was saying that you should sit in th middle row then we would have serve you faster it was so annoying Actually I came to this restaurant because hear food will be nice and tasty which I have tasted in other branch

I don't get the hype. I was told to visit here for the best food when I came from Bangalore. Day 1 I was like on today might be a bad day for them and might have cooked something up. Day 2 the same type of food. I truly don't get the hype.
