Hotel Royal Punjab - Hotel in Ponda - South Goa, India

1) Very poor management - I cannot get hot water from geyser so went to reception at 7:00 am and the person was sleeping. He told that maybe the geyser is broken so try to adjust and bath with cold water. I did not like his behavior. Eventually I had to bath with cold water. - breakfast opens at 7:30 am, and we were told the previous night that tea can be made available at 7:00. Again there's no information which clearly states it. 2) poor maintenance - rooms are poorly maintained, bathrooms are not clean and in bad condition. Walls with dust (jaali), no soap in bathroom, had to ask them to provide. Floor was also not clean so asked them to broom the floor. They did it for us. 3) lots of insects - not sure if it's due to the area but there were small flies always in the corridor and in room. 4) charged 1500 rs per room even when pointed these things out. So overall was not a good experience for me. Hopefully they should learn about hospitality.

If you love north Indian food, this is one and only option throughout city..Absolutely Amazing...very cooperative staff and good management..

Food quality is so good in Goa, you can find the best food here on reasonable price....

Food quality and service is more better than other hotels

I visited this hotel one year back and at that time it was very nice for food as well as accommodation. But recently, I visited this hotel and the total atmosphere has been changed within one year. Since the hotel is situated near to Farmagudi junction, it was a good place for visitors to Goa Engineering College (GEC), National Institute of Technology (NIT), Goa and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Goa, since the hotel he hardly 2km away from these campuses. LACK OF MAINTENANCE AND MALADMINISTRATION made this hotel inadequate for visitors. It can be seen from the broken roof sheets, passage of wandering cows, etc., The rooms are shabby and bathrooms are dirty. The staffs are very rude and their behaviour is very bad. There were only two hotels at Farmagudi. There was a hotel named Farmagudy Residency of Goa Tourism Development Corporation which is now converted into hostel for students and no rooms are available for rent. So Hotel Royal Punjab became a monopoly at Farmagudi. This made them to ignore on maintenance and proper administration. The staffs are very rude and their behaviour is very bad. There is a restaurant with bar inside the hotel. Most of the Chinese and north Indian dishes, vegetarian and non vegetarian are available there. But the south Indian dishes like dosa, iddli, etc., are not available. The food is very tasty. I liked the coffee and the egg omelet very much. The hotel opens and closes three times a day, ie, for breakfast, lunch and dinner. There is a lawn behind the hotel where the liquor is served. Except the latency in serving food and the rude staff, the restaurant is good. Since the hotel is situated around 100 metres from the main road, there is no problem of dust and sound pollution. Since there is not enough place to park the cars, the cars are to be parked in the nearby open land without any security. If you take a room at Hotel Royal Punjab in connection with the visit of GEC or NIT or IIT, no transportation is available from this hotel. Either you have to walk 2 kms or get an auto from Ponda for Rs. 200/-. Also, you will not get anything (even a tea) at odd hours at or near to this hotel. So I suggest a HOTEL MENINO for rooms with lower budget and HOTEL MENINO EXECUTIVE for rooms with higher budget at Ponda. Auto rickshaws are available in front of these hotels and the charges is around Rs.200/-. Since the Ponda market is very near to these hotels, you can make purchases.

It is very near to Furmaguri circle. This place provides both good food and drinks as is conventional in Goa. It has both outdoor nice grass lone and nicely decorated AC inside restaurant. There is no additional service charge or tax for inside facility. The best part is it's food. A wide variety of of food starting from Indian, Tandoori, Chinese are available. You can order any food that will give you maximum pleasure of taste. Food is simply delicious here. Regarding drink and desert also this place is really good. This restaurant is attached to the hotel. There is adequate place for parking around it. Food cost is also nominal here compared to nearby restaurants. For best food in Furmaguri you have to visit this restaurant.

Its a very nice restaurant in Ponda.. Food is really yummy.. Specially Kebabs ... I loved the manchow soup & apple chicken too. Biryani is awesome ... Really this place is the best... Many years down ..same taste.. Love visiting this place

the hotel is very simple and neat. The bathroom is not so neat. no toiletries are provided, by default only one towel is provided in the room. the wifi only works in reception. it doesnt work in rooms and the internet speed is also very slow. The location is far from the main market and there is no proper conveyance. have to depend on the buses. while coming back to the hotel the buses are frequent but they always try to skip the passengers for that location. if u have ur own vehicle then no problem. staff is normal. guy at the reception is friendly and helping. i cannot say the food available at the restuarant is awsome, but manageble and for the environment i feel the prices are at higher side.
