Hotel Periyaar - Hotel in Kochi, Aluva - Ernakulam, India

Periyar hotel is the one of the famous hotel in Aluva which is located in the banks of periyar (River thats why they name the hotel 'periyar'). We can see the hotel when we travel through the NH near to the Marthanda varma Bridge, which is one of the icon of Aluva. This hotels most famous for their bar section where they have local and executive bars. They have rooftop and lawn and lot of huts services. The most unique thing that place the bar from other bars are the ambience the hotel gives.. the breeze from the periyar river is always refreshing and calm your mood. Zipping a beer by enjoying the breeze is will give you some extra chill. This is the speciality of periyar that make you visit again. Talking about the room facilities they have different categories of rooms and the suit rooms are realluly nice and the rooms that facing the river have balconies to enjoy the riverside view and you can enjoy the view in all category rooms I have visited thsi hotel many times with my friends and we had good and bad experience in here mostly we had good experiences but the bad experiences will be remembered it was mostly from the waiters.. The services are some times not that much good in here and one time we found one waiter drunk and delaying our orders which make us to cancel our orders and ruin the mood and we complained about this and the manager apologies to us for the inconvenience. Apart from this rare incidents the hotel has good food and atmosphere that uphold your expectations. This hotel is one of the iconic location of Aluva's long legacy

I went for a function at their roof top space which was fine. It is an open space with a view of the aluva traffic . The traffic will be hectic during peak hours and they have enough parking space.

There is an interesting story behind this photograph. This is Hotel Periyar at Alwaye (Kerala) During 1996 we were playing Inter Bank tournament organised by Federal Bank at Alwaye. As usual both IOB and Indian Bank were in the final. Both the teams were staying in this Hotel. Before leaving the Hotel IB players told the owner of the Hotel to arrange for a party when they come back as they were confident of winning. We played the match very well and we lost to Indian bank in the second extra time. Sunny played his heart out. We came back to the Hotel and around 9 pm were ordering for a cup of tea. Whereas the IB players were trying to arrange for a winning party. We were sulking due to the loss. The owner of the Hotel Periyar came to our room and asked us "why you are not having any party?" when we told that we are sulking as we have lost narrowly, He said, "I will throw a party on the house" then he arranged a very good party specially opened the Bar and arranged very good sea food dinner. I can"t even remember his name, but the game helped us to meet such a wonderful people. Thank you very much for lifting the spirits of the players.

This place really surprised me, They have ultra clean and spacious room with balcony. I was expecting average service like every other budget hotel booked online. But I was so happy to see the drinking water with covered tumblers kept ready in the room. The bed linen was clean as new! Also they had 2 towels. Believe me- toiletries including Dental, Shaving Kit, Soap, Moisturiser, body wash & shampoo!! Now this is called value for money, or more than that.

What I tell you !!! Fantastic place near the periyar river (aaluvaa pulll) Everything is good. Atmosphere, food quality, staff behaviour, Affordable price.

The hotel needs a complete overhaul. Cracks in rooms, acs are old. But good part is it's next to Periyar lake.

Review Date 13th May 2023. I have been staying at this hotel Periyaar on and off for the last 8 to 10 years during my visit to Kochi and Aluva. This visit i stayed again in River Side View Double Bed. Here are some Positives: 1) Excellent View from the room balcony overlooking Periyar River and Bridge. 2) Very close to Aluva Metro Station (300 meters) to travel towards Kochi or Ernakulam Town. You can also board Electric Bus from this metro station for Cochin Airport drop (INR60rs one way) cheap and best way every 30 minutes till 10pm. Same from Airport you can travel till this metro station. 3)Paid around INR2900 for 1 night quite decent considering the location. Improvement Areas: 1) Split AC is quite old might need a replacement and cleaning. Remote doesn't work always! 2) Twice the hot water had a very bad stink smell (Previous night and next day morning). My spouse literally vomited due to the stink. I complained and plumbing staff came and opened the tap for 10 minutes and let the water flow. Commented no stink now all okay! But I felt overhead tank or the solar water tank needs cleaning. Considering peak season it was not a problem to get resolved by letting water flow to remove the stink! Please rectify! 3) Kindly make some changes for your breakfast menu. I have visited many times and your buffet breakfast menu remains exactly the same. I can tell the menu next time when i visit without even entering your restaurant. Default "Egg curry" is like mandatory in your menu. Please provide some changes Kerala has such a vast breakfast menu you need to serve your visitors. Not just Appam, Egg Curry, Dosa Sambar Chutney!

Periyar hotel is bar hotel near periyar river, Best ambience with a view of periyar river budget friendly with excellent astaff abd best food. You can go with family also. Have open and Ac restaurant also. Also have a rooftop bar. Best thing is the excellent staff.
