Hotel Opal - Hotel in Kolhapur - Kolhapur, India

Didn't stay here. Had only breakfast. Buffet was around 180Rs per head. Good variety of options and tasty as well. Idly was very dry and not well made maybe because they aren't used to making south Indian dishes.

I dined at the hotel last night, and unfortunately, the food left much to be desired. The taste was quite poor, and it didn't meet my expectations. While the ambiance was nice, the dining experience was ultimately disappointing due to the lackluster food quality.

Edited review for my previous visit in 2017. Visited Opal for dinner in my latest visit in 2023. Food quality seems to be declined over the years. Rest all looks consistent. Improved on parking facilities compared to my last visit.

We had been frequently in staying here since 2005. The latest stay was in November 2023. My family loves to stay here. Breakfast is awesome, dinner is best and stay is in quality rooms which are recently renovated.

It's a good experience. I have been a regular customer for the last 40 years or so. I'd like to suggest one thing that the kids should not be counted as full plate and vice versa. Otherwise everything is ok.

Quick service, Good food, parking available... Pandhra and Tambda rassa absolutely yummy... Mutton and chicken sukka super....for people with low appetite... However recommend mutton thali for people with good appetite...you will love it...

Over hyped Restaurant - visited after a friend recommended. Ordered special chicken thali - meat was undercooked and chewy. Tambda and Pandhra rassa were average. Sol kadhi had also gone bad - luckily, we managed to return it without fuss.

The hotel is around 3 km away from Mahalaxmi mandir. But autos charge a fair price. There is a small mall right next to it, if you're into that. The rooms are nice, clean, and of good size with good wardrobe space. The AC in our room was leaking water. The staff were willing to change our room. The bathrooms are clean and spacious enough, but the complimentary toiletries were lacking. The room walls felt quite thin, for we could hear commotion from the adjacent rooms. Also, the extra bed they offered was not good enough for 700/- per night! It was quite narrow and the sheets used were not clean enough. The restaurant is Veg and Non Veg. The complimentary breakfast did not have idlis or dosas for south indians, but there was puri with delicious sabzi to go with. The hotel also offers good parking space if you have your own vehicle. All in all, it was a good hotel but for ~3.5k per night, it could do better. We will also be looking for a hotel with a pure veg restaurant next time.
