Had a wonderful stay for 4 nights! (25-29 Dec 2021). Booked through Agoda, but somehow my booking didn't reached the hotel. However, the owner was courteous enough to give us his room and shift to a smaller room. That gesture was heart warming. Being the peak season, there were no rooms available in entire Shillong and these guys came as our saviours
Writing purely on the basis of pros & cons PRO: 1) wifi connectivity 2) Decently clean rooms 3) Amenities like towel, soap , hot water Cons: 1) They joined 2 single beds in place of double beds which created a gap 2) An extremely small room for the price of 1800 rs, MAx would have paid 1000 but there were no other options. 3) There was some construction work going on behind which made it to be very noisy 4) No ventilation in the room, nor an exhaust fan 5) The attendant at reception was eating PAN even while taking our ID , very unprofessional.
Summary: I wish there was a provision to leave a 0 on 5 rating. Details: The room booking displays a different image from the actual room. The size of the room is 8 feet by 5 feet without a window, fan, ventilation of any kind. Amenities promised while booking were absent. Wifi ( which is prominently advertised on sites) is absent ( no connection at the hotel). There's no toiletries provided, no room service ( not even water, leave aside a cup of tea). By far, a terrible nightmare. Avoid at all costs.
Good to stay in a budget friendly environment. Service is not so good. Room is average. They provide hot water and Wi-Fi as well. Though the strength of the Wi-Fi is not so good.

Lovely staff and manager !! When there was full occupancy, the manager prodvied his own room to us !! Highly impressive this act of kindness and service !! Will love to visit again
Had a very pleasant stay. The cottage is very well maintained and furnished. Rooms were neat and clean. The owner of the property,Mr Darell is very soft spoken and helpful. Overall the stay was very cozy. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely stay at this property. The staff were very friendly. The breakfast buffet was top notch. Indian, khasi food and continental. Did not use the pool. But was looked very nice. Had great drinks and dinner at poolside bar.

You will actually feel like you are staying at home. I have visited Mawlynnong 3 times and every time I stayed in this homestay. Superb neat and clean place with decent basic eating options nearby.
