Hotel Diana - Restaurant in Udupi - Udupi, India

Highly overrated restaurant. We ordered for Gudbad had really bad experience. Quality of the dry fruits used was worst, ice cream flavours used were very artificial .will never visit this restaurant.

In the past, this hotel was among the greatest in terms of both hospitality and food quality. But it's worse now. Half of the stuff on the menu is unavailable and they don't seem to care about the customers. Food and hospitality have changed over the years. When we bought Lighthouse ice cream, it arrived melted and tasted awful. Dayan's old days are far gone. Not a nice place to go. Esapicaly way of treating customer is too bad.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the "Diana" restaurant, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the incredibly tasty ice cream that is 'Gudbud' they served. Apart from the mouthwatering dessert, the restaurant had a fantastic atmosphere. It was a perfect blend of cozy and modern, making it an ideal place to unwind and enjoy a meal. The ambiance added to the overall enjoyment of the dining experience.

Worst customer service!!!! They don't seem to care about customers at all. Half of the menu isn't available and if asked they don't even respond. Atleast they should have the courtesy to reply or educate customers about the availability of food. The entire hotel, tourists were grumbling. Sad to see the fellow customers disappointed. Worst experience! Ps: whatever little food available was good.

One of the iconic eating joints of the 80s and 90s now really languishing. The next generation has not been able to capitalise on the good will that the owner had created. The food is mediocre with most served from the fridge. The cutlet and chole bhature were the signature dishes have been wiped out forever. The old waiters who are still working there are the last pillars before this place closes down.

Tried cutlet, gudbud and kurma Paratha. Gudbud was nice but rest were not so worth. Felt cutlets are quite expensive( 85 for 2 pcs) nothing great taste wise. Kumar just like dal fry. No cut veggies and qty is not sufficient. Gudbud was nice with good dry fruits (reisin).

As an Udupi kid, my dad's always been a fan of Diana which means, even I got to visit there a lot of times since my childhood. I can assure you, the food NOW, since a couple of years is nowhere close to the old mouthwatering ones. Old Diana was a whole different vibe. Our fav cutlet, puri kurma have changed (not evolve) a lot over the years taste wise, but we still go for it to reminisce the old years. Gadbad has also changed, but it's my go-to option, forever. Recently I tried Lighthouse but was really disappointed as the quantity wasn't worth Rs180. I do not suggest it. Edit: Double Sundae tastes great!(pic uploaded)

My recent visit to Udupi in September 2023 was made even more memorable thanks to my stay at Diana Hotel. This peaceful and well-maintained hotel served as the perfect base for my 3-day exploration of the city. Upon my early morning arrival, I inquired about an early check-in, which came with a nominal fee. Opting not to check in early, I stored my luggage and set off to discover Udupi's excellent local and express bus services. These affordable and convenient buses covered the city's major attractions, eliminating the need for a car rental. Returning to Diana Hotel, I was pleased with my spacious and clean room. Despite the building's age, it was well-preserved and odor-free. The room featured all the essential amenities AC, Windows, touch card room key, and the bathroom was particularly spacious, equipped with hot water and a functional shower. Complimentary toiletries were a thoughtful touch. The hotel also boasted an in-house restaurant, a local shop, and close proximity to dining options. Throughout my stay, the hotel staff, especially the receptionist, were attentive and accommodating. In summary, Diana Hotel made my Udupi trip memorable and convenient. I highly recommend it to fellow travelers for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in this charming city
