Hotel Diamond - Hotel in Kumbakonam - Thanjavur, India

Hotel Diamond is a wonderful place to stay in for short temple visit. It has very tidy rooms kept well, with reasonable rates. It is very comfortable to access and is the heart of the temple town and has good parking facility. The staff are very courteous and well mannered and they will make your stay memorable. Only shortcoming is that there is no restaurant attached but since numerous hotels are available nearby, the same is not an issue. Do check out this place if you are on a pilgrimage with family and in your own transport. You will not be disappointed.

The hotel service is not as per expectations. Water bottle, room service, hot water, bathroom, toilet etc is not upto the mark. Hot water facility is not available 24/7. The check in and check out is 2pm-2pm, unlike most hotels which is 12pm -12pm. I would not recommend an online booking for this hotel. I checked in at 6am and there was no room boy available at that time. The hotel security guided me to the room. The response to any service request is slow. Overall a below par experience.

Rooms were neat and clean. All major temples are at a walkable distance from here. Hot water available. 24 hours checkin and checkout is very helpful.

Good maintenance, clean and neat. Good reception. Main area near the bus stand and railway station. The rate seems a little high. No restaurant we need to go outside only. Other than this everything is fine you can stay with family and friends well. Recommended for staying.

Rooms were good and the location perfect with good parking facilities. But they are making a cardinal mistake of not trusting any customer. They control elevator access to basement car parking and when we first arrived we were told to go around stating the elevator wasn't working. When we reached lobby we were told that since customers used to run away through basement using lift, they control it. Every time we were made to wait for the hotel staff to take their own time to bring the lift to basement to pick us up. Making it an unpleasant stay for us, as my aged parents had to wait.

The only con I could say is there is no in house restaurant. Otherwise an excellent hotel at the heart of city with all important temples at a walkable distance. Located on a busy main road, the rooms are neatly built to keep them noise free. Also the rooms are very spacious and neat. Check with the reception to get a quick brochure of all the important places along with the routes in and around Kumbakonam. I found it very useful. Wide choice of restaurants nearby and also choice of Swiggy and Zomato. Hence the absence of inhouse restaurant is not a concern at all. They have a 24 hours check in and out policy if you book with them directly rather than any app. Overall, an excellent and memorable stay and Value for money. Highly recommended for family

We were planning a trip to Tanjore and Kumbakonam to explore the historic temples and were in search of a clean hotel with good accessibility and parking facilities. After careful consideration of photos and online reviews, we chose Hotel Diamond. We also confirmed our reservation through a phone call, and the best part was that no advance payment was required, allowing us the flexibility to cancel if needed. On the day of check-in, we arrived at the hotel quite late at 11 PM. To our relief, the watchman and reception were still available, and we securely parked our car in the spacious basement. We opted for a triple bed single room, which was facing a nearby temple. The room was spacious, clean, and well-maintained, providing a comfortable stay. During our two-night stay, we didn't spend much time in the hotel except for sleeping. However, we did notice that the room service could have been more responsive and timely in attending to our requests. One aspect that could be improved is the availability of Wi-Fi service, as it is commonly offered by most hotels nowadays. Unfortunately, this facility was not provided during our stay. Overall, Hotel Diamond provided a comfortable stay with convenient check-in and check-out processes. However, we felt that the cost could have been slightly lower, perhaps by around 300 or less, compared to the amount paid. In conclusion, Hotel Diamond in Kumbakonam is a decent choice for a hassle-free stay, but there is room for improvement in terms of room service response time and the availability of Wi-Fi.
