Hotel City Castle - Hotel in Mussoorie - Dehradun, India

Ok, so I had many second thoughts after viewing previous reviews. l am going to share an honest feedback which might help. Pros: 1. I stayed in a Super Deluxe room and the room was very good according to the price, there was ventilation in the room, the toilets were clean, bedding was clean, and there was no foul smell. The electronic equipment was working perfectly. Spacious room. 2. The staff was very well behaved and they were courteous. Mr. Naveen- The Manager is a soft spoken guy. 3. Car Parking available. 4. Food in the hotel's restaurant was good and economical. 5. Daily use needs shops are located at a distance of 100m only. Cons: 1. If you are not comfortable in driving through narrow and steap lanes, yoh will find it difficult to reach the parking of the hotel. 2. If your room's balcony is facing the clock tower then you will hear the clock ringing after every hour even during the night, luckily we were tired enough that it didnt bother us. 3. Mall road distance is approx 900m so there's some walking and trekking involved or you can rent a two wheeler which will make your stay much more comfortable. At the end, if you are looking for a good hotel room in season time and have no issues in walking/driving to the hotel/mall road then its a steal deal wherein you dont have to pay the mcd charges to enter mall road to park your car.

The hotel is good but the accessibility to the hotel is a real problem for people who are old or not very fit specially with luggage . The positives are - Room is quite spacious , the hotel stuffs respond quickly although they are local people & not professionals as such . Mall road is nearby & you can take local cabs for sightseeing . The same guys cook food for you & eh taste is ok , price too is ok compared to other hotel prices at Mussouri. Overall somewhat ok deal . Could have given 4 out of 5 but reduced '1' due to its tough accessibility. Somewhat ok . Not too good though .

Great place. But it is a little bit far from mall road so you have to walk for 10 minutes. Staff and food was good and you can watch the sunset from the hotel which is a plus point.

The food quality is very poor with a very high price.They give exactly 2 spoon rice with a price of 140 rupees! This is unimaginable. All the other items were of such poor tastes that were not edible at all.The room service is very poor as we have to call 5 times and then go to the reception to take them to the room.Not a single day we got water in the washroom, this is a horrible thing to stay in a hotel. The water was coming with very little force from the tap.The wifi service is very poor, it is only written as WiFi otherwise mobile phone's internet is much better than this. The wifi stopped in between and speed is as low as it can be. In the second day of our stay wifi didn't work for the whole day.There were frequent power cuts which disturbed us very much. I don't think the hotel has a power backup or power generator at all.There were no space available for car parking so we have to drop the car below and walk (or should I say treck) the steep road all along with luggages. The entrance of the hotel door is very narrow because of plenty of cars standing in front of it. It is a very inconvenient way to walk through the door.Also as it is written in the description that the hotel is 820 meters away from the Mall road, this is a blatant lie! The Mall road is at least 2 km away from the hotel and also the hotel is located at a much higher altitude from the Mall road.This is a very unsafe hotel for a family. At first there is no privacy. The next room can be seen from the balcony. There is a mere partition in the balcony of the rooms, otherwise it is a common balcony!The room and the washroom were very much dirty and foul smelling. Even after telling spray room freshners or give some odonil they refused at first. Then after going to the reception and asking again and again they have sent a pretty bad smelling room freshner with a man who sprayed it for once in the washroom and twice in the bedroom.The door of the balcony cannot be opened as monkeys will come and take your staff. One monkey had come and taken our food from the room. You cannot sleep properly as there was a very disturbing loud sound of hammering coming from above all the time all the days.As the hotel is located very far from the Mall road and at a very higher altitude, it is very unsafe to walk along the road to the hotel after 8 pm. Also no cars were available at that time and if available they were asking 500 rs to go 2 km! So overall it is very unsafe for a family to stay in this particular hotel. There are plenty of good hotels available near the Mall road. This is not a hotel at all, loot your money without giving any proper service.

Great view with great location. The valley view rooms are really a treat to the eyes. Service is average. Food is decent. Located right at the Landour bazaar clock tower. You can access nearby shops easily by walking.

After checking so many mixed reviews of this hotel I finally decided to stay here ...my stays was not so bad as people gave negative reviews...but yes cleanliness is the main area where they are lacking and should focus on because blanket and bedsheet was not so clean ...however Room was spacious and Bathroom was also good ..if you ask information they are very polite and guide you.

overall good stay. near to mall road, approx 10 min walk. ample parking space. great view from room balcony. owner is really helpful. except food service everything is great. food service can be improved.
