Hotel Chaitanya - Seafood restaurant in Malvan - Sindhudurg, India

This place was right across from my Hotel, Malvani Heritage. Since the reviews were so good & our entire day was hectic, decided to just walk across to this place for dinner. It's located in the busy market street leading to the Sindhudurga beach & jetty. Parking is difficult as the road is a narrow, conjusted street. It's a nine table restaurant, packed for space. The limited Menu is mentioned on a white board. The food was delicious & freshly prepared. We ordered for Kolambi bhaat (Rs.350), Bombil fry (Rs.180), Sol kadi (Rs.90 per glass) & sweet paan (Rs.50 per paan). I personally felt it was a bit higher priced & over hyped for the quantity provided, ambience (non AC, simple decor, steel cutlery, ok cleanliness) & poker faced service. We had dined at other premium & delicious places nearby & even they were priced much less, especially the thaalis.

Taste is average, place is very crowded, seating capacity is very less. Food is good, Veg non veg options are available. But instead of getting veg thali try one veg curry/sabji & roti, because so many items from veg thali won't be worth for the taste buds. Worth a shot!!

Food is very tasty. I liked crab lollipop very much. Combination of prawns with gravy and neer dosa was delicious. It is small restaurant with fewer tables. But food is good.

Went to this hotel after recommendation by local person and it was definitely worth it. It's food quality is exceptional. Ambiance is alright, with low space and uncomfortable seating arrangement. The service was promt and experience was very satisfying. There's no parking space nearby. Go here just for the food.

Editing my previous rating of 5 star to 2 stars. Visiting this place for almost a decade in my every Malvan visit. There were days when not many homestays and other restaurants were there in competition of authentic Malvani food. Food here used to be always authentic and lot of options were on the menu. This place has disappointed me in my visit last week. No more full menu, limited options and stinking dining area. Staff courtesy was anyways not there in past, so no difference for that. I think they are now focusing more on their two outlets in Mumbai. Or must have changed their management and/or chefs to which is running this outlet. I wish Chaitanya in Malvan will go back to their original legacy taste and serve authentic Malvani nice food in future! Photos are from my previous visit. Did not clicked any pics in latest visit out of disappointment.

Food is better than Atithi Bamboo.Staffs are co-operative. They still served us in off hours. (Not quoting on this)

Go here to have authentic Malvani Seafood ! That sums it up. Be prepared to wait in queues and long wait times after you order! But then it's worth it. Fish was as fresh as it can get and preparation was simply great.Loved the pomfret I tried here and even the rice thali which we ordered. Don't go with your car,since the roads are way too narrow and finding parking is next to impossible, take an auto rickshaw to visit the place, I didn't like the outdoor handwash here since the water from tap too was kind of dripping slow and highly inconvenient. The Aamras in desserts is another thing to try and will get you grooving to it..albeit you should be in the summer mango season when you get the fresh mangoes and not from preserved pulp.

The quality n taste of food is no longer like earlier. Wada size recuced. Chapati was half cooked and stiff not soft. Fish was also not as tasty and chicken also not worth. Few yrs back it was nice. Not now. Wont go here again.
