HosteLiFe Gokarna - Backpacker Hostel in Gokarna - Uttara Kannada, India

I've been visiting Hostel Life every year! Gokarna is love and hostel life is comfortable and LaVies cafe provides good, tasty and hygienic food. Sweet people and helpful in all kinds. I will be visiting in the future too.

If given an option go for Zostel which is next door to HostelLife. Zostel has got certainly best of vibes in the entire Gokarna. We unfortunately couldn't find a room in Zostel. Coming to HostelLife it's a very very basic place with absolutely no aesthetics. We booked a seperate room there with 3k/night approx cost. Room is newly built. Hence 2* rating otherwise place is certainly 1* especially if a couple ot family desires to stay out here. Inside the room what you get is AC, fan and hot water. What you don't have includes - glasses, cups, dustbin(one small one in bathroom), phone etc. Place is managed by kids who are in early 20s who probably have not learnt basics of hospitality yet. Had to call everytime we needed little things like warm water, glasses etc. There's no hostel like vibe at all honestly. Complete avoid for couples, family. Solos on tight budget may go for it.

Its a budget friendly property within close proximity to mahabaleshwar temple.. ample parking space, close to cafe areas.. young enthusiastic staff managing the property.. good place for youngsters

While the location of this establishment is in a particularly secluded area, the dorm rooms are pathetic. The washrooms haven't been cleaned in ages, the common area is suffocating and reeks of stale alcohol and cigarettes and don't even think about using the common washroom. Overall, it was a terrible stay experience. I have rated it 2 stars since the staff is particularly polite and well mannered and they were accommodating to our requirements of a late check-in / check-out.

We booked a private room. The room was good with absolutely beautiful sea and hill view. The rooms were clean. The sheets did have some spots on them. Towels were clean. Few cons about this place The host isn't very welcoming or courteous. They do not provide any facilities other than rooms but they do guide you. There is no dustbin provided in the room, only one in bathroom. Outside food and drinks isn't allowed. Families are not welcomed. It's only meant for couples and young crowd. The sad part was the Ac kept switching off in a extremely sunny afternoon and can wasn't working as well, the hosts said it is due to voltage fluctuations. In morning the flush stopped working, though Tap water was running. I would recommend it as a one time visit for someone who wants to experience a sea view room.

If anyone chooses this place to stay, then I doubt your ability to make decisions. The place is bad, the management does not care for the guests and the maintenance of the place is poor. They have competitive prices but the money is NOT worth it. The location has great views, unlike the management. I'm giving one star because zero star is not an option apparently. Also, I think people come here only if ALL the other places are full.

A good place with clean rooms. Next to Zostel. Have a private sea view point. Cafe could have been little better to chill out at night.
