This hostel is definitely a hidden gem in Chennai! Whether staying a while (I stayed 2 weeks) or just passing through, this is a great hub for your stay in Chennai. As a solo female traveller I felt super comfortable and safe here (both in the female and mixed dorm). The atmosphere is like staying with family, there's a shared kitchen as well as daily meals offered, laundry, good A/C for the Chennai heat, and everything you'd need for both short or long term stays. It's a very social hostel and I met a lot of great people here. Cute cats and dogs too!! Moreover, the owner is super kind and accommodating. He's always happy to help with anything you need, and goes above and beyond to ensure guests are happy! He helped me to book a bus ticket and then helped me to get my refund after it was suddenly cancelled! If you're on the fence dont hesitate to book this place. You wont regret it :)

They have cats and dog which i didn't like but let's won't bother you, dorms are little unclean for me, they serve homemade food as well but with a cost which is also fine . In all I like the stay, it's a safe and good place to spend nights , specially for girls

Disclaimer: this review is based on the price point. This place is very well maintained, and has a great vibe to it. The manager is really helpful and attends to queries very promptly. All lavatories are cleaned on a daily basis. ACs are sufficient to keep you cool (7pm - 7 am only). This is a backpacker hostel and not a hotel. Anybody expecting a luxurious stay and a lot of privacy, will certainly not be happy. I've seen all kinds of people coming here, and they tell me that they like to revisit the place whenever they're in town because they find the facilities to be sufficient. You get to interact with a lot of people, and that's up the essentials. They have a fully functional kitchen, laundry which you can use by yourself or ask for help too. They cook nutritious food, and if an affordable and filling meal, then they will very well fulfill your needs. The basement is not very well maintained, because it's probably just a parking and not part of the hostel. The surroundings are not great, but it is definitely very well connected. If you're coming here for the first time, then you'll definitely have a hard time looking for the street that leads to the property. All that said, if you're looking for a place to stay short/long term and do not mind sharing your space with the others, then you will have a great experience.

This place gives you a good experience and food is also surprisingly good. When I visited there AC was out of service and Chennai just burned me. Rest rooms are the things I look into when I visit and it's clean. Beds are little squeaky beacuse I didn't sleep properly without AC in a conjusted space. I should have stayed and enjoyed there now the AC is back. They have cute pets.

I had an amazing time staying at the Hostel Gandhi in Chennai. One of the highlights was the presence of adorable cats and dogs that brought so much joy and comfort during my stay. Felt like a home. Owner was so sweet and kindly with the customers. AC rooms with neat and tidy place everywhere. mostly north indians love this place it seems our people also should be used to this dormitory culture. 750INR for a day is worth for the money. Terrace situps was nice. They had a dog named Ramu and 4 cats they were lovelydefinitely will go once again to meet them
