Review for Hogenakkal Boating: I recently visited Hogenakkal Boating in India, and I must say that it was a highly disappointing and unhygienic experience. I feel compelled to share my observations to warn others about the conditions at this tourist spot. Firstly, I found the individuals operating the boating service to be extremely unprofessional and exploitative. They charged an exorbitant fee of 1500/- for a 15-minute ride for four people, despite initially claiming that the ride would take 1.5 hours. This blatant misrepresentation of information left me feeling deceived and cheated. To make matters worse, the boat operators continuously asked for additional money, displaying a persistent and bothersome attitude. Their behavior resembled that of beggars, which was highly off-putting. The boat people themselves were arrogant and rude, further contributing to the negative experience. Their lack of professionalism and disrespect towards visitors only added to the disappointment. I do not recommend this place for families, as it does not provide a suitable environment for a pleasant outing. The bathrooms were dirty and nasty, and it was disheartening to see human waste scattered throughout the facilities. Despite charging a fee of 10RS per person, the lack of cleanliness was unacceptable. Although the fish fry offered at the location was enjoyable, the sellers attempted to overcharge and exploit visitors, tarnishing the overall experience. In summary, Hogenakkal Boating has unfortunately become a tourist spot that is spoiled, destroyed, polluted, and misused. The unhygienic conditions and unprofessional behavior of the boat operators have turned it into a place that is not worth visiting. I strongly advise against going to this location. Our journey of approximately 250km to reach there turned out to be a complete waste of time, money, and happiness. It is important not to be swayed by positive reviews, as there are indications that some of them may be fabricated to deceive people from outside Tamil Nadu. This lack of transparency and ethical conduct is disappointing. In conclusion, I express my disappointment with the conditions at Hogenakkal Boating and question the accountability of the Tamil Government for allowing such a situation to persist.

A nice place for a weekend gateway...during monsoons, the coracle boating is prohibited.

Very nice place for a day outing. The boat ride is very exciting. The booking of boats can be a lot more organized. I did not find the choice of food available very attractive.

Before getting to see the water falls here most of the men get a nice body massage with oil for about 20 mins. Take a nice shower under the natural falls. The water pressure is again as good as a massage. Get dressed, eat nice fish on the beach and go on a beautiful ride on a saucer like boat to experience the water falls. There are many scenic views to take pics of. Enjoy

beautiful waterfall, just go for boating, on a single boat there are total of 5 peoples including 1 boatman, i was charged 1000 per person but it's worth more than that.

Good place to visit but found it extremely crowded. In order to see the main views you need to take a boat ride that will cost Rs.750 and will be for hardly 1 minute. This is a govt. Fixed rate and the only way to reach to view point. The boat person charges Rs3500 to take you through the longer stretch of the river to few small waterfalls and then finally to a mini sort of an island where you can get into water. This ride is expensive but only way to get good view otherwise there is nothing you can expect/see here. We negotiated the price and it costed us around Rs2000 more apart from the standard Rs750. Pls carry extra pair of cloth and water as it can get extremely hot.

A very scenic and beautiful place to hangout. A good experience on boating and a small trek to reach the top to see the gorgeous view of the majestic Niagara falls of India. These boatmen take extra cash to take you near the big falls, but it is worth the amount spent. Would've missed the best part of hogenakkal if we had not paid extra and went to the big falls. Carrying an extra pair of clothes is recommended as we can easily get wet while boating even if you don't take a bath. Fishes are the only main food here. If you're a vegetarian, there is no good hotel nearby. Better to pack your food and have a nice lunch after bath/boating, else you should just munch all the snacks here and return back(like what we did)! Check out the Kavery status before planning as they don't allow boating and even bathing if the flow is too much.
