Hindustan Beach Retreat - Resort hotel in Varkala - Thiruvananthapuram, India

Except the location,nothing is good about the hotel. They gave us different rooms from the one we have booked six months ago in the name of upgrading the rooms. We had to struggle to get the rooms we had booked. There is no maintenance of the property,there is dust everywhere ,old furniture,worned out bedsheets ,crockery stained,don't like even sleeping on the bed after a hectic day. There is bad smell at the reception. Our room AC was not working properly and water was leaking we complained many times every time somebody came and then did not return. WiFi not working. Think before you book.

Worst resort I have ever seen. Only for show. Service is not good. Ordering food took more than 1hour in their restaurant Waste of cost totaly All other good ratings are fake. Please be aware of this resort. In room, kettle is not working, dryer is there but not working. Spending 5k was absolutely nonsense. Don't even think about drinking at their bar. The service is so bad. The server is talking like we are the server and he is the customer.

Apart from the location, nothing is good in this hotel. We checked in the rain and no one was there to even hold the door, let alone help us with the bags. It was as if they are obliging with us by letting us stay in the hotel. The check in process was horrible. The whole hotel is decaying and rusting. The room was large with a sea view but the furniture was almost 15 years old with no maintenance whatsoever. The bed was hurting our backs, the bedsheet and quilt were stained. The headrest was extremely dirty and the highlight was that the room had 3 LIZARDS crawling in the room and the balcony. We had a 2 night stay but checked out after the first night as we couldn't tolerate it. Please DO NOT visit this hotel without further verification.

Pros: great location & good food. Room is huge. Cons: the rooms are shabby, not well maintained, service is poor. The furniture in the room and stuff in the bathroom looked unclean and rusty. We had to call the housekeeping service 4 times to clean some water on the floor which we found when we entered the room, only to find out the next morning that the AC was leaking from the top.

Rooms and Location: They have a very exquisite location right on the shore of papnasham beach. The rooms are well lit and AC conditioned with a sea view. Service: The room service was on point and the ladies were very nice. We took massages one day and the lady was very skilled. She was able to relieve muscle soreness. If you do stay here i recommend the turtle bay massage. It was just one time that i had an issue with getting hot water. That was the only bummer.

Location : 5/5 . Overlooks the sea and close to the temple Service : 4/5 .The services were good. But there are always some scope for improvement Rooms: 4/5 , The rooms are good and is really well maintained.

The place has potential but sadly does not use it. The rooms are totally fine, if you need a place with a good location and fair price. But the restaurant buffet could be cleaner. Also the pool side could be very nice, if they just would invest in some clean towels and sun loungers with proper mattresses (falling apart). The area in front of the hotel ist a famous meeting spot and can be soiled. But that is a general problem in this area.
