Hindola Mahal is Artistic, Beautiful Unique Structure ! Hindola Mahal Built by Hushang Shah, probably around A.D. 1425 as a Durbar hall. The walls are inordinately thick and slope like those of a castle. The slope of over 77 degrees gives a swinging appearance to the building, hence the name. The plan is 'T' shaped. The upright stem being the main hall (which was built first), and the cross bar is a transverse portion added later. The structure was probably supposed to have the zenana place as another storey above the main hall, which would explain the bulk and strength of the walls. The whole complex of Mandu is so so rich and so beautiful. Every monuments has a story behind it on which it stands tested against the tide of centuries and different kings and their kingdom. After hearing the story and the purpose of the complex it's all worth it. Would recommend blindly to anyone to visit this place and feel the heritage first hand. Kudos to ASI again for the maintenance of the heritage so that the future can witness this beauty as it is.
Hindola Mahal where hindola means swing. This mahal was built for swings during rainy seasons by mughals. It is located inside jahaz mahal.
Hindola mahal is said to resemble a jhula because of its sloped walls, hence the name. Not sure about this description, but its a beautiful architecture. It looked even more beautiful during the rains. The grand architecture is evidence of the prosperity of the ancient Mandu kingdom.
A 15th century contruction built in the style of malwa architecture is most probably built by Hoshang Shah. A significant section in the palace complex of Mandu, Hindola mahal is one of its kind...arches are the major attraction. Greens are appreciable in monsoons but unfortunately these palaces are not very well kept. although an interesting light and sound show in the campus is good. it starts after 7 in summers and after 6 in winters. it is a bilingual show and the hindi version is definitely enticing. A fourth star is added for this show. entry fee is negligible Rs 5 per person and timings are 8 to 5.30. can go for a picnic in monsoon. history lovers would like it to be managed better.
Place full of stories. This is where the rulers used to hold court and listen to people's affairs. It's shaped like an old swing, that's why it's called "Hindola". This is also where they do the sound and light show in the evening and it is highly recommended.
The Hindola mahal is the largest meeting hall (Darbar) of Mandu, Madhya Pradesh. The palace is believed to be constructed by Hoshang Shah during 1425 C.E. It's architecture makes it a very special tourist spot. The plan of Hindola Mahal is a T-shape and has highly inclined buttresses which gives the Hindola Mahal a swinging look as it's name suggests. This place will keep your brain swinging in the ancient beauty of mandu.
Hindola Mahal - meaning Swing palace is so named due to its sloping side walls. The Hindola Mahal might have been constructed during the reign of Hushang Shah
