Absolutely stunning piece of architecture. The symetry of the structure is eye popping. Even after hundreds of years the structure is still strong and looks beautiful. The steps are designed and built in such a way that hundreds of people can have access to the water at any point of time. A must see place while in Hampi.
Unique Stepped Tank. Early morning are the best time to visit as crowd will be less and sunlight will be pleasant for the Photograph. Earlier on can stepdown and take photos, now its not allowed. Its is believed that the entire tank was shifted from Kalinga (Odisha).
An impressive piece of ancient artwork and water management system.
Among the most beautiful ruins of Hampi are the pushkarnis, ancient water tanks. Like many Hindu temples in India, Hampi's majestic temples have accompanying stepped tanks or basins used for religious and ceremonial purposes.
Designed symmetrically as either rectangles or squares. Each generally has several large tiers which contain multiple steps in semi-pyramidal from, leading down to the next level.
The pushkarnis were fed with the water of the nearby Tungabhadra River through a series of canals and aqueducts part of ancient water systems still intact.
The step well is a must visit place in the Royal enclosure. It's fascinating to know the water management system during those old days.
It is a beautiful place where you can see the stones which are made to flow of water to the kalyani.. And you are not even allowed to step the exact first stone of the kalyani.
Absolutely beautiful - one of the most photographed attractions in Hampi . In the middle of the Royal enclosure . I have seen a few stepwells in our country but this one is very symmetrical and has a charm of its own . Also gives a view of how the water network during the empire was . Tough to get a clean picture without people !!
Brilliant architecture in UNESCO World Heritage Site Hampi in the State of Karnataka. Also called Pushkaranis.
It's beautiful to see a well buit like this. Visitors are not allowed to get down near the water. There is no entry ticket.

Very good South Indian food just opposite to Hampi archaeological museum. For 120 rupees 2 chapatis, 2 curries, 1 bowl of rice, 1 cup of curd, sambar and rasam along with papad.
This is a very comfortable stay. The rooms are big enough and very clean, also clean are the bathrooms. Also, the price is very cost effective. The area is super peaceful. The owners are very friendly. If you have your car it is absolutely best. Even
On a weekday there are no tourists here absolutely. This is a very big and beautiful temple. Take your time to view numerous story sculptures here, which you may not see in detail in other famous temples of Hampi due to many other tourists around you
