Haimavathy Pond (Pullekonam Chira) - Featured Reviews (67)
Haimavathy pond situated in the Karyavattom campus with myth.stories. now it's renovated and well maintained..now the pond was clean..and surrounding paddy fields are used properly by farming and aquaculture. cool greenary path towards the pond.
Beautiful pond once fiercely feared Now it's all cleared up and is a common spot for all Students in the campus.
Honestly there is nothing much to see here. Just a dirty pond. The surroundings are very spooky though. The myths surrounding this place are famous. They say a girl was killed here and that her ghost still haunts this place. I personally didn't see any supernatural activity. Came here in a car with a friend. The roads are that great. It's an off road trail. It's a very isolated place but you may occasionally see the Kerala university campus students hanging around this spot. Note that it's in the Kerala university campus so getting in without an ID card may be a problem. But if course the security never ask or check anything.
The legend goes that the pond and adjoining areas are haunted by the spirit of a young Brahmin woman called Hymavathi. The woman is believed to have killed herself by drowning in the pond, after her lover - a lower caste man - was murdered by her own relatives. The pond is in the middle of the 450-acre Karyavattom campus of Kerala University in Thiruvananthapuram. And until a few weeks ago, neither students nor the staff of the University would go near the place, in fear of Hymavathi. The Karyavattom campus of the university was established in 1968, and ever since, this particular area near the pond has been abandoned. The pond and vacant plot around it was a den for antisocial elements since ghost stories kept people away from it. In the past, the police have arrested criminals from this spot.
It is here that several people, over the years, have claimed to have seen 'unnatural sights.' And it is this place, mired in myth and superstition for far too long, that a group of students have started a grassroots revolution to renovate a pond that has the potential to be a source of water for the campus. When you enter the vibrant Karyavattom campus of Kerala University, the mood is usually light and festive, as in most campuses. But inside this campus, the mud roads lead to a mysterious place: An abandoned pond, Hymavathi, stands next to a ruined house in the middle of a forest. Surrounded by huge trees - mainly Aqasia - the place is usually dark, even when the sun is shining bright above the trees. The legend goes that the pond and adjoining areas are haunted by the spirit of a young Brahmin woman called Hymavathi. The woman is believed to have killed herself by drowning in the pond, after her lover - a lower caste man - was murdered by her own relatives.
Cool and calm place. Presence of Hymavathi ghost around here and high presence of paranormal activities. Now the government is trying to re-construct the pond and its surroundings. A girl named Hymavathi suicide here after love failure.. Legend has it that was not a suicide, the relatives of her lover killed her brutally.. she has not got justice.. So the ghost haunts here until she gets justice... And it still waiting for the time.... BEWARE SHE STILL WAITING FOR THE OPPORTUNITY...
Nice, it is not a good place to visit in noon
Its a pond inside Kariavattom University Campus and is famous for some myths and folklore of Haimavathi - the unseen ghost. Its located near the University's pump house and on the back side of aquatic biology department. Previously the area was filled with dense cashew trees and now hardly none. Many story versions are linked with Haimavathy pond but none have a valid base to prove it.

Calm and peaceful walkway along the Karamana River, and in the mid'st of town. But you will never feel it, and it gives the impression of a village. Good for a morning walk or a stroll anytime, as the entire path has trees on both sides and good shad
I recently visited the Vettukad beach in Trivandrum and I was very impressed with the atmosphere there. The beach is situated close to the Vettukad Church, so it was quite tranquil. The beach itself was fairly clean and there were plenty of amenities
One of the best beauty spot riverside in tvm. Very wonderful natural scenic beauty. The area is very cool and a best spot to cool your self from the crouching sun in cities. The cool breeze at the location help you to relax and cool down your mind.
A great hilltop to visit. Steep climbs and off-road involved. Be careful with your 2-wheeler. A very serene place to be in morning or evening. Boys play cricket on the hilltop ground. The view from the hilltop is superb. The view of the sea, the rive
