Haat Bazaar - Market in Kalimpong - Kalimpong, India

any usual local market. very busy and crowded. i didn't find anything cheaper than kolkata. you can visit once for experience. i actually went to try some local food there like momos, laphing , aaloo thukpa but i only could find Phambi everywhere .which i didn't like.

A market bustling with people on Wednesday and Saturday where stalls selling local farm produce and products from the plains or places far away in the hills are displayed for sale. There are a few permanent shops, too!

Let's start with a honest review. Dont visit on Sundays. Mostly the market is closed on Sunday. ITS OVERPRICED AS HELL. I mean yeah OK if you have a butt load of money you can shop here if I felt it's qlwaste of money. Atkeast garment shopping from here is totally waste because basically they import everything from Kolkata and then overprice it. But then what to shop?? Souvenirs like the authentic food from there. Rice noodles / candy bars/ badam patalies / cocunut sweets / spices (a little costly but worth it). Also while you are there, feel free to visit the authentic bag shop that sells "hemp bags". It is totally worth it and sells for less than online hemp bags. Also the shop owner is totally an awesome person... So if you have interest in small talks about the market, he is your guy.

It's a Saturday Haat bazar and we bought few things like carry bag from Nepal and other small stuff

It's a typical hilly market place. Mostly, ladies are the shopkeepers.They sell vegetables ,clothing,utensils ,fish fruits and many household items . To get a feel of a hill town market ,one may step in and get a first-hand experience !

This market has lots of local essentials and food that a traveler can explore, you can get Bhutanese style tea cups, kettle, and can taste delicious churpi, momos, fambi and much more...

The coming together of local products and the population of Kalimpong concocting a historical mix every Wednesday and Saturday. Local cuisines, jovial people and the ever notorious traffic of people and cars form the backdrop of the experience while visiting the famous Haat Bazar.

A vegetable market everyday of the week , where venders come from all over the neighboring village with their home grown produce, but every Thursday this normal market place turns into food fest, where local cuisines freshly made and served , its an awesome experience for all , local and tourist
