Guru Hotel - Hotel in Tiruchirappalli - Tiruchirappalli, India

Once a popular one. But currently its amenities not updated. Hot water was not coming. Learnt later pipe line problem. Servants were not aware if this. They asked me to let two buckets of water. I let six buckets, no use. Hot water general supply. No geysers. Time limit 0530 to 0900 am. Air-conditioning irregular. It stops and starts on its own. Wall mount machine. To operate its control, to read the function buttons, you need sit on the floor, to say more precisely you must luy down on the floor. Remote will not function, damaged. But tariff remains unchanged, though comforts are reduced without advance information. Coffee shop outside its restaurant. Clumsy tumblers, highly unhygienic. Only advantage is its proximity to Central bus stand. If you need an accommodation closer to bus stand you can adjust with this.

Should give 6 stars for AC dining service. Keep engaged us with multiple side dishes for the items we ordered. Podi items are good.

The review is about the Kurinji restaurant in the Guru Hotel and not about the hotel. The restaurant is an iconic place and is around more than 25 years to my knowledge. Since those days, this restaurant has served tasty cuisines. Although located close to the Central busstand, this restaurant is popular among the locals too.

I recently happened to check in this hotel unfortunately felt one of the worst services among so far I have checked.Let me list down, the receptionist unwelcoming like the way he reacted like I asked him to lend money(still in kind of situation acceptable) then the room service, usually after the previous occupiers vacated they prepared everything(like towel bedsheets and other toiletries)before the next one check in whereas the service guy delivered one by one after i had to request everything(as he intended to show his face more often perhaps expecting tips, indeed that's true, also acceptable). Toilet flush was not working , as I had to used bucket of water every time, in some case still acceptable. The nightmare was the *bedbugs* and worst cleanliness of bedspreads. If I can give less than 1 star I would have given but no choice. The only plus point is it's location as it located just nearby the bus terminal and restaurants n shops. Hope the responsible person should take action immediately after see this feedback.

Very budget friendly rooms available. Need to keep improving on bath fittings with timely repair and maintenance.

The reception staff Prakash made us wait until we showed him the marriage certificate and only then left us inside. (Are we to carry our marriage certificate everywhere we travel?). Though he was being true to the rules of the hotel, his behaviour was rude and investigative towards us and doubting us. He was rude to us without a reason and was not at all welcoming. Even when we tried to call the reception for hot water, he is asking us to give a jug (if we have) to the room boy for hot water (There were no Jugs or glasses provided in the room). He was rude over the phone as well. Although Rooms were good and the room boy was helpful and kind, the hotel management must make sure the behaviour of the staff at the reception is pleasing and respectful.

We were in Trichy for temple visit,we went to this hotel multiple times.once for dinner once for lunch. While the arrangements and ambience is generally ok for a bus stand,road side,stop by hotel. The food taste was satisfactory and items were enough in quantity.parking is a problem with but the guard helps in that . The servers are polite and ok. Recommended foods Dosa masala,ghee dosa,meals. Problems or don't order. BaroTTa at noon as the item might be stale...Avoid Avoid the barotta especially for children,my both kids who had the BaRoTTA had vomitting later.high acidity etc. Maybe because the batter dough might be lying around for long tats y the food contamination type symptoms. While staff is polite helpful n good The Cashier behaviour is not good, He is downright rude and not bothered, he treats all customers as if he's doing a favour by allowing us to pay for food. In one instance we asked for a change for 50 rs after we paid for our meal to pay their guard some tip as he helped us parked the car etc.. The Cashier jus point blank refused,even tat would have been ok,but his answer n response was rude..he literally said he doesn't care wether we had food here or anywhere.he doesn't give change at all.he said u want to eat or you don't want to eat hes in no way connected to that or bothered with that .finally the waiter intervened and asked the cashier why he's behaving badly with customer and then he gave us the change we asked. Over all time of guru hotels is up they need to move on frm their old world employee setup n behaviour of yesteryears to treating customers better. Place is therefore NOT RECOMMENDED for food or for staff behaviour.

Amazing food and at really great prices. Appam, Utthapam, Dosas especially Onion Rawa Masala Dosa . I also happened to visit there during Lunch time and was amazed by the Meals they provide which contains more than 8 varieties of vegetables. I haven't eaten that wholesome-ly in quite a while as I did then. I definitely recommend everyone, especially tourists to visit here, as the staff is very friendly to outsiders.
