Guppy - Japanese restaurant in New Delhi - South East, India

This has been an old favourite but somehow it fell off the radar. It has the vibe of a mid market joint that serves up good Japanese food. And of of course Asian illustrations, anime and an Asian vocalist. There were two of us and we went early and then unfolded a meal that just fell short of a disaster. The calamari was tasteless - there was no other way to describe it! We had to send it back and we asked for a salmon sushi and a pork Sui Mai. The Sui Mai was a soggy mess. Again, i can't really describe in it any other way. The lady serving us was amicable but she didn't know how to open the bottle of wine! Finally, my friend had to help her. The bottle of wine was dirty so we drank a glass each reluctantly. The main course arrived, a garlic rice which was tasty and the tenderloin, also tasty. However our sushi never arrived! The cod took a long time and finally when it came it was inedible, it was too rich and very smelly. I understand sometimes food can take long when the restaurant is busy but there was only one more table occupied! The sushi finally arrived but very late- it was average to taste. We paid 8k for this meal! The service was bad but friendly however, will we come back? Only if we are really desperate or if we believe Guppy has made amends for the better!

We go to a cafe or a restaurant for food, but this Japanese restaurant had it all, from cute interiors to yummy food to the best hospitality ever. As you open the door of this place, you feel like you are entering a wonderland. The colourful artwork on the walls, the hanging Japanese dolls and the pastel cutlery are enough to melt your heart. But no, that's not all! As soon as your taste buds experience the delectable Japanese food, they say, 'One more bite, please'. So, what are you waiting for? Head to this beautiful cafe. Plan your weekend lunch dates with your girl gang or your family. We assure you, you'll come back with a big smile.

Located behind one section of the Lodhi Market, this is an amazing restaurant to bring persons with reduced mobility as everything is located on the ground floor. The service was very professional and they kept a discreet watch on our table and helped us order too. The food was delectable and the ambience quirky and quiet which made for an amazing conversation with friends.

Strong flavor to the Japanese cuisine. The prawns were great. The spicy edamame was fun to try.

Amazing food and hospitality. I had visited Guppy to celebrate an important academic milestone with my partner and it was all worth it. The asparagus-tempura sushi is unarguably their best dish on the menu. The rose wine was indeed very fragrant.

A great lunch for 10 of us. Excellent service, very polite and efficient. The food was great. Sushi/sashimi was fresh and well prepared with minimum fuss. The vegetarian stuff was appreciated by the parents. A nice Wasabi Cocktail was appreciated by the ladies as well.

Guppy is my favourite Japanese restaurant in Delhi. The food is greattt and so is the hospitality. I love the vibe of the place and I end up going there quite often. Shatarupa always looks after us and the staff is polite, friendly and helpful. One of the few places that never disappoints.
