It is situated 60 km away from NH 766 and approximately 200 km from the state administrative capital, Bangalore. Gundlupet is the last town in Karnataka on the National Highway 766 which goes through Mysore, Ooty, Wayanad, and Calicut. It is situated very close to the Tamil Nadu and Kerala state borders. NH 181 begins from Gundlupet and ends in Nagapattinam in Tamil Nadu via Ooty and Coimbatore.[1] The Vijayanarayana Temple is located in the town of Gundlupet of Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka state, India. The temple dates back to the 10th century rule of the Western Ganga Dynasty, though it has received continuous patronage from later kingdoms as well, up to the 15th century Vijayanagara period. Tradition has it that the Hoysala Empire King Vishnuvardhana was responsible for the consecration of the deity Vijayanarayana, a version of the Hindu god Narayana (or Vishnu).[1]

You find big trees around and the bus stop is well maintained and in good condition . You have buses to bandipur national park and ooty every 30 minutes. The trees are nesting place for Indian fox bats and they are in huge numbers. Only state transport buses of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu are allowed. No private buses allowed for this bus stop. Usually rush during weekends is seen.
Regular buses to Mysuru but less cleanliness has to be maintained clean.

The small cafetaria on Mysore road called Coffee Stop is run by Kerala people from Tellicherry and they serve meat and fish dishes cooked in coconut oil. The main attraction of this restaurant is not the food but its photogenic appearance.
First bus stand while going towards Mysore from both Kozhikode/Wayanad of Kerala and Gudalur of Tamil Nadu. There will be buses available towards north Mysore. Towards south Kozhikode, Gudalur and Ootty. Rarely to Trissur and Perinthalmanna of Kerala via Gudalur.
Temple is very close to the highway, and within the town; now, thickly surrounded by shops and residential buildings. So, you shouldn't have any difficulty in reaching. Though small, the temple is kept very clean. With simple decoration, the deity w
