A great one day getaway from Chennai. Thankfully the climate was also cloudy making our long walk less tiring. Once you reach near the village, you can ask locals to show you the entry points towards the cave/temple. If you pass through a watch tower then you're in the right path. There are 2 seating areas made on the way to the cave to relax and take a break. As you keep moving forward, the forest gets densed and the way gets narrower. There are thorns also so be careful while walking fast. In the end, it might look that there's no way ahead as there will be bushescovering the path, that's when you've to bend and get going to reach the cave. The cave is so calm and peaceful that you can hear a pin-drop! There are beehive all over the top so again be careful. Get some mattress/bedsheet if you wanna spend long time there. Carry ample water/snacks in advance since we couldn't find any local shops nearby. One best thing about the walk was it was pure nature without any litter.
Good place for hiking. Two caves are there. Paleolithic people were lived in it. You can find some stone tools too.
Wonderful place for one day trek from Chennai. It's a real dense forest. Therefore going in groups is advisable. Take loads of water and fruits. Good trekking shoes is a mandate. The trail is covered with full trees and hence it is generally cool but taking a cap is advisable. Best time to trek is during spring time. Make sure to reach the place well early in the morning so that the heat is not felt.
People who plan for a day's Trek, Gudiyam is an excellent place to loose yourself with the Nature, Carry Enough of Water, And make sure You Get someone who knows the Route very, Such Deep The Forest that you may loose the Path. TIPS NOW* : 1) Yes you will get lost - The First Timers, make sure you get someone from the village ( there are some families living on the foothills of the cave ) to accompany you. 2) Carry Enough of Water as you won't find Any source inside the forest 3) Trekking with family isn't Encouraged. *Applies by the Interest* 4) THE whole Journey would take you 2-3 Hours only, as we finished Within 2Hrs 5)It's a Raw Nature, Enjoy it completely, don't expect any Facilities there in the yrs To come, yeah this Gonna cheerish With Mass Crowd.
A short trekking place to see ancient caves. Half day to trek and half day to chill in hills. A peaceful and beautiful place near to Chennai. The path leads to gudiyam from Chennai is also full of reserved forests. So worth to see.
Historical place. A good place for trekking. If you plan to visit this place pls keep below points in mind. Keep Ample drinking water in hand You have to park the vehicle in gudiyam village. Better park it near a house and inform them. You won't have shops in that village to buy. So be prepared before going. If you need guidance on the trial, the local people are happy to help with a small fee. There are two caves. Make sure you visit both. The whole trial path is small with bushes and thorns. Make sure you wear comfortable clothing. If you need have a pair of gloves to protect your hand when moving bushes. Summer time is very hot in this place. Be prepared. A kind request Please refrain from littering the place as much as you can.
Most wonderful nd fav place wen u get a chance njoy it guys Thank you God for being wid my family
This is a really less known trekking spot. The entrance to the trekking path itself was not clear. One should search for the trekking starting point in the map. We asked the locals to get the direction. There is no proper parking place in the starting point. No official entrance. It took us more than 2 hours to reach the caves. At some point we thought that we lost. Because the way gets narrower and narrower close to the caves and full of bushes and plants. We have to crawl at some point. There are several big and small caves. Also a template like setup in some caves. There is also a deviation which goes to the top of one of the hills. The view from there is incredible. It is such a quiet place. There can be wild animals like boars in the area. The texture of rocks is also very unusual.
