The best season to visit is in between September and October! Gudavi Bird Sanctuary's well-maintained pathways and watchtowers allowed me to observe the birds up close without disturbing their natural habitat. The knowledgeable guides on site shared interesting insights about the avian residents, enhancing my appreciation for these feathered creatures. Gudavi Bird Sanctuary, is one of the renowned Bird Sanctuaries in Karnataka. Located on bank of a lake..It governed and managed by State forest department.. The best time to visit sanctuary is August to Jan mid .. Timing - 9am to 6pm Entry fees - Rs.50/- per head You can reach this place by road either from Sagara, Soraba or Banavasi..Gudavi grama is about 16km from banavasi.. Soraba to Banavasi main road a big board is there which helps you to locate road .. Recent years this sanctuary is very well maintained by forest department which is really appreciable.. so cleanly maintained ..Very nice place to hangout with family or friends..kids above 7-8 years can enjoy this place .. for kids they even have small play ground which has slider and swing . This place is plastic free kindly whoever visit maintain the same .. I visited in the month of October and could find 7-8 varieties of birds . If you are interested in viewing and finding birds kindly get binocular which really helps .. There are few areas where you can take really good picture with nice view Better to get own vehicle as you can not find any public transport nearby ..Staffs are so friendly and knowledgeable.. Please don't bring outside food and spoil the nature Washroom is available for men and women separately .. cleanly maintained..you have to pay and use.. Around 2-3km big walking path is there to enjoy the bird view , just walk and enjoy the nature Let us nurture the nature for our future
The place has a lot of potential as it's quite big. But lacks maintenance. There were few birds when we went in October. There was nobody at the entrance and we were confused as it was open or not. The track is not very significant too, so we were not sure if continue driving or turn back, still went ahead and inside saw couple of vehicles parked. As we started walking inside, someone called to take the tickets. He was not at the counter and there was no signboard either, but gave proper tickets. Washrooms were totally bad !!! Eateries were non-functional. Overall waste of time going all the way to see the place in such a bad state !!
Visited at the time of October... I got to see only 4 to 5 breeds of birds.. Amazing place !!!
Nice place, entry INR25/head. Its worth it. There watch towers, October to November is the peak season, note: rear side of the biggest tower is where most verity of birds are seen like Drongos, woodpeckers, etc (if you observe).
First of all best time to visit is from June to Nov. There will be plenty of birds during the season. Do not visit during non season, there will be no birds at all. Place is big, require 1.5-2 hours to roam around. Place has natural and artificial lakes, watchtowers, play area etc. Authority should focus on maintenance and cleanliness. There isn't much information about the place online. There are many roads to reach and all are confusing. Nice place to visit during monsoon.
Fantastic Nature. We are visited in the month of February, less birds was there.
