Green Park - Park in Tiruchirappalli - Tiruchirappalli, India

I visited this place with my daughter on 9-Oct-2021 for the first time, this place is not maintained at all. Today 5-June-2023 we visited the place with her mom too, the place has turned into an unmaintained forest. Trichy police verbally abused us there. When we went there the park was open. The gates were open and there were no guards or anyone there. We walked towards the places where we saw the seven wonders, and the little one wanted to show it to her mom. Unfortunately we didn't notice the out time mentioned in no contrast writing outside the gate. Police personnel came there and started talking to us with a bad attitude and asked us to go out, which we obliged. There were two police men in civil dress on a scooter and a motorcycle. We walked out to the gate and upon reaching we found they locked the gate. Which they had done deliberately, we waited there until they finished their discussions to come and open the gate, which they did upon seeing us patiently waiting there. They surrounded us and started talking about how this place has become notorious with criminal activities and how people have been snatching chains and killing people by just slitting the throat. Asked us if we are not reading any Tamil newspapers. Since we are not from Tamil Nadu and not native tamilian we are not fluent in the language and my wife said that we had just visited and when we went inside just 5 mins back no one was there, and the gate was wide open, which she said in English and the police man was very angry and as per my wife he didn't hit her only because she was a female. They asked us to go back, and they said they came inside because they saw our car parked there (of course that itself is proof enough that we visited a public place with kid with pure intentions). While we were about to get in the car, the civil dress police man said oru kattil pottu kuthalaam, which was outraging a woman's modesty at every level, and I went back to the group of police men there, and mentioned that they are not supposed to talk in such language or such intent when they themselves are the law enforcers and the senior (elder) police officer in uniform apologized and asked us to leave. Again we obliged. I am writing this here, today itself to highlight how unsafe Tiruchurappalli is as per the police officers, and how they are badly forced to avoid any further mishaps by even being verbally abusive to the visitors and tourists. The main thing to be noted is, this place is very close (just opposite) to the new upcoming Tiruchurappalli long distance bus terminus near Saranathan Engineering college and also close to the entry point Edamalaipattipudur near to Trichy Junction railway station. This place Tiruchurappalli is highly mismanaged by few officials who enjoy their power by being abusive towards people. The second police officer who came on the motorcycle was on the other hand very polite and also worried about how his colleague was abusive. My daughter was visibly upset about the whole episode. I am upset that I studied in one of the best institutes in India, did my PhD and chose to stay back in India. But rebuilding a nation is not really any possibility without better vision and passion.

Superb park and very good place for sitting,relaxing,talking.Benches are available all around the park.Mini models of taj mahal, Eiffel tower etc. are present.Good place to hangout with all types of people.Kids playground also present here.Clean drinking water is available here.Public bathrooms are present.

From trichy junction it's about 5 kms. Free entry. Lot of places for kids to play and run. Separate tracks for cyclers and walkers. Trees and benches everywhere to take rest. Other than a fruit salad shop in the entrance nothing will be available. No bus will stop there. It's better to ride or drive. Some areas are still under construction. Maintenance is not that much good.

Very well conceptualized park with so much infra planned. However, just like most parks in the state, the park is very badly maintained. If the bushes are cleared and the paths are maintained clean, this will be a great park to spend time with family or even to go for a walk or bicycle ride.

A peaceful and calm area in the outer space of Trichy ... A track for cycling is there.. a good place for couples looking for places to hangout.

Super. But some buddys misused this park atmosphere.

Has a huge piece of lane which could be utilised to do better, but the place has literally no maintenance. Little bit of maintenance could take this place a long way.

Before COVID it was well maintained, but now it's too drastic worst, in certain platforms there is no foot path too, hope many misusing the place for their bad activities, because boundary walls are collapsed, night time park will be remain close, for illegal entry they using that collapsed wall. Government has to take steps to restructure the park as like before. Entry fee also over welcome if the park will well maintained. Can collect monthly fees for the regular users, daily counter fees. Responsible owners Please take necessary steps to bring back the extraordinary place.
