Government Museum - Museum in Ooty - The Nilgiris, India

One of the must watch tourist place in ooty. But some tourist guys didn't recommend this place. Entry fee is very cheap. This museum shows the objects used by the tribal people. Some wild animals and birds are exhibited. We can see some tribal people's lifestyle through photos. Bison statue is amazing. This museum is located near college ground.

It was peaceful. Wouldn't be at the top of the list but should go. Entry fees is Rs 5 and for phone photography also Rs 20 extra would be required.

The Government Museum in Ooty, situated on the Ooty-Mysore Road, gives a peek into the culture and ancient heritage of the tribes of Ooty. And there is no admission fee to visit this. This building is also called as stone house.

Very nice museum with a lot of knowledgeable information on ooty animals, birds, ooty culture and how people lived there in olden days and what type of wraps and utensils they used in olden times.

Very nice place for museum enthusiasts. It is very less crowded and you can explore the museum peacefully. Entire fee is very less. Very neat and well maintained and staff is very calm. There are no washrooms. Good to gain knowledge on ancient tribes and tools used by them. You can see the pictures below.

Honestly the under rated place of Ooty...everybody in Ooty is cold place or lake side view or shopping but this place is hidden gem...we loved it...it wasn't on our itinerary but it has amazing vibes to it ..this place has good collection of artifacts and full of cultural items around...also very cheap entry fee...very selective crowd visits here hence very genuine people are found

This is the first bungalow that was constructed in Ooty during pre British era which is now a museum. Stone House displays a collection of tribal art, weapons, Machinery, folk artifacts and fauna fossils specifically of Ooty region. It also has elements of cultural and religious importance. Stone House is a storehouse of information and knowledge with an entry fee of just Rs 5. The museum has been renovated and maintained well but needs better lighting. It's a great place for kids, families, photo enthusiasts, history buffs, and tourists alike.
