I have so many childhood memories with this temple, me and my mom often visited that place when I was a kid. That was the only place where I found peace.

This temple is an ancient sacred place for the vaishnav people of Bengal. It is said that Shri Chaitanya took diksha from his guru Keshav Bharati in this place in 1510. There are many visiting items inside this temple such as the peepal tree where Shri Chaitanya was tonsured or a shrine where his hair was cremated. Though it is now maintained by the local authority, the place is not properly cleaned and it's slippery. Moreover, it is located inside a narrow street which is very hard to locate except localites. The authority should take of these in order to attract more pilgrims and historians.

It is the ashram of Keshab Bharti sannyas guru of sri Chaitanya Mahaprovu. Here Biswambhar Mishra took sannyas and known as sri Krishna Chaitanya Bharati. So important place among vaishnav but lack of attention by local authorities and West Bengal government.

Gouranga Bari is a Hindu temple. The place is famous for Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. He took sanyas (leaving home) here by Keshav Varati and shaved his head by barbar Madhu. So the place is famous for Nemai Pandit who became Sri Krishna Chaitanya after shaving his head and took sanyas. The Gouranga Bari is situated at Gouranga para, Katwa near Gouranga para park.

Katwa is a historic town situated in the East Burdwan district of West Bengal. In January 1510, Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu took sanyas from Sri Keshava Bharati at the site of the current Sri Gauranga Bari Temple. The location of the town is at the confluence of Ajay and Ganga river. This town holds many other historic significance but has been a sacred place for Vaishnavas ever since. Under the able guidance of HH Indradyumna Swami, more than 600 devotees visited that place during the month of Karttika. The beautiful Deity of Bara Gauranga who is carved by Sri Narahari Sarkar depicting the Lord in His intoxicated enchanting dancing form (Rasaraja Mahabhava) and the charming smile of Sri Nityananda Prabhu who plays His flute in the mood of Sri Balrama, melted all our hearts. They are pure mercy manifestations. Over there we saw the original tree under which Mahaprabhu's beautiful hair was shaved and beside the tree we saw the shrine containing His hair. The spot where Mahaprabhu took sanyas initiation is beautifully preserved along with the full samadhi of Keshava Bharati. The kirtan we had there was so ecstatic, we can't describe in words.
