Goomtee Tea Retreat - Resort hotel in Darjeeling, Mahanadi - Darjeeling, India

Visited for a day. Excellent vegetarian lunch. Recommend the baked rice. Pleasant staff. Rooms are beautiful in this restored Tea estate bunglow.

Excellent property,surrounded by hills. People who has visited Darjeeling a number of times and looking for an offbeat location,this is one.Very quiet,calm and serene. There are 4 rooms. The heritage bunglow is more than 100 years old but well maintained.There is sufficient open space to chill. There is a small library in case you are bookworm.However rooms do not have a TV and you need to be at the drawing room to watch TV.The caretaker and cook are very homely and you can have almost home made food of your choice and a english breakfast.However food is veg,though eggs are served.Very gentle and warm staff.Since its a offbeat locations its better to go in group(at least 2 families) as in case if the other rooms are not occupied,you will be welcomed to an eerie silence. But this is an virgin resort and a visit to the tea factory can be an added attraction.But for nature lovers looking for a quiet holiday,this resort at 4150 feet is a paradise. In a 15 minute drive,you may reach Paglajhora and witness majestic waterfalls.

It was wonderful experience. The property is well maintained and people are very cooperative. It was first opportunity for family members to stay in Tea Garden. Everyone was rejoiced and trilled. Tea testing was fantastic experience. Homely food cooked by Premji was very delicious. Scenic beauty from resort is amazing. Ashokji provided all necessary support.

Goomtee is an amazing holiday destination. It is nestled in beauty and calm. Flowers line the pathways near the resort, and the walk along the tea bushes and waterfall is a blissful experience. Mist comes along time and again to lend itself a mystical feeling. The stay itself is luxurious in the wood crafted decor. The staff is courteous and brings in awesome meals - specially selected for the mindful. A treat for everyone !

The bungalow ( guest house ) of Goomtee tea estate is perched on a hillock amidst lush green tea garden all around. A quaint heritage property, indescribably pretty & meticulously maintained, has to be savoured & experienced to know how serenity can work it's magic on sore city nerves. We spent two most restful days in unimaginable solitude soaking in the riot of colours of the flowers in bloom all around. Bird calls & rustling of leaves only accentuated the solitude. Mr Prem the care taker & all the staff were courtesy personified. We were pampered with endless cups of the best first flush from their garden through the day. On request, we bought the same tea for home before leaving. Except for the meals which were at best only basic, we had a most magical holiday. Prof T Chakraburtty

Goomtee tea garden home stay has been the most wonderful experience for us.The hills were in their best during the monsoons.The place offered the best, hospitality,home cooked vegetarian meals prepared by utmost hygiene and perfection, saviouries served with golden goomtee tea in the evening. The visit to the tea factory was an eye opener too. Visit to the garden,seeing the pluckers at work with their nimble fingers was a visual treat. I strongly recommend all nature lovers to surely visit this place.It is......heaven on earth!!

I had the most pleasant time staying in this magical sanctuary among one of the most important tea gardens in Darjeeling. Excellent teas, foods and attendance... Peace, beauty, fresh air, mountains and the goodness of tea. What else would you want? A retreat, very definitely. An old British era tea estate bungalow, all wooden flooring and fire places. Each room looks out on to a beautiful lawn. Flowers bloom like madness. Elderly cook called Prem cooks perfect veg meals - like mom made, only better.
