We booked a special itinerary for our family of four: an 8-day Buddha trail tour which includes places like Bodh Gaya, Varanasi, Kushinagar, and Lumbini. Our package included an air conditioned vehicle, hotel and meals. Both our tour guide Tauseef and our driver Hemant were amazing! Tauseef was extremely professional, patient, punctual, and catered very well to our needs. He had exceptional knowledge at every holy site we visited and answered all our questions with detailed explanations. We gained a lot of insight about India in general as well (culture, religious beliefs, daily life) throughout our time with Tauseef over the 8-day tour. Couldn't be happier!! Thank you for the wonderful time in India and Nepal!!

Hi there, I just wanted to email you to let you know how the tour has been. The driver we have had has been excellent, kept to time and let us know what time we need to be up in the morning etc. The rickshaw driver was rude when we didn't buy anything from the spice bizarre or the other bizarre in old Delhi and was then rude about how much of a tip we had given, we gave 100 rupees which was enough considering it was only maybe a half an hour trip. The first tour guide we had at the Taj and at the fort was excellent, answered questions well and held our safety as high priority as well talking nice photos for us. The only thing is that we didn't go to see the Baby Taj so we had finished sightseeing by 11.30, but this was fine as we were tired and have seen a lot the last few days. On the way to Agra, we stopped at Fatehpur Sikri and were introduced to the tour guide. He explained about paying for the buses and the entrance fees, when inside the fort, he was on his phone a lot and I didn't feel as safe here as I did at the Taj with people asking if wanted them to jump in the water for photos and other beggars asking for money with our guide, nowhere to been seen. We continued the tour and it was fine, very interesting history. When we went across to the mosque, we left our shoes with someone the guide told us to leave our shoes with, we then walked past the many vendors and people living in the building. The guide then took us to one particular person and told us to sit down and be respectful in front of this man accepting "donations" of at least 1000 rupees for shawls to place on the tomb and to be used for local people, I don't believe this is at all what the money or the pashmina is for. There didn't seem to be another option for us if we wanted to go inside the tomb and lay petals/tie string so we felt as if we had to pay. After going in the tomb, we returned to our shoes where the guide told us to pay the man from earlier 10 rupees, which I know isn't a great deal of money but it's the fact we weren't told there was a charge. By this point of the sightseeing I was so angry I just wanted to get back in the car and leave, on the walk back he asked if we wanted to look in friend's shop and we said no, we had spent enough money. Then on our trip to Jaipur my boyfriend and I were upset about the elephant ride as we saw the riders hitting the elephants with sticks. The guide told us to tip the rider even though there were signs everywhere to say don't tip them. After some sightseeing he then took us to a jewellers obviously with the hope of us buying something but we both declined quite quickly as we seem to waste so much time of the tours looking at things like this. We then got to the Royal Palace museum where again, the guide wanted us to sit and watch the painter wanting us to buy something and by this point, I was so upset I started crying and wanted to leave but we finished off the site then left for lunch. It's such a shame India is such a beautiful country but as a westerner we come on holiday to embrace the culture and relax but instead are constantly met by people trying to get money out of us. I thought I would let you know our experience with the hope you will not make other tourists feel like I do or at least educate tour guides on how to not exploit tourists. Because of this tour, I would never want to come to India again.
