Gohad fort 50 Km Nort East from Gwalior on Gwalior Bhind road lies an abonded five centuries old Gohad fort built in 1505 by Bamraulia Jat ruler Singhandev II of Gohad State. Gohad Fort has following important buildings inside the fort. Navin Mahal inside the fort was constructed by Maharana Chhatra Singh (1757-1785) of Gohad. Other buildings are Khas Mahal, Shish Mahal, Sat-Bhanwar, Deoghar, Khas Darbar, Am Darbar, Bhandar Grih Rani Bagh and other temples and water ponds. (Source Wikipedia) Fort lies in the heart of the Gohad city surrounded by beautiful Mustered fileds. Just opposite the fort is the museum telling some of the great stories of Gohad city. Currently the fort is under the hands of Archeological Survey of India and it needs a lot of attention. Apart from missing public facilities this fort also seeks some serious maintenance. Advice you to carry food n water while visiting the fort. A must visit to see the hidden past and untold stories of Indian history.

The place is very nice to visit but u have to carry your food and water and necessary things as there are no stalls near the fort , You've to visit the market for purchasing something. This site is very amazing for watching but in the absence of maintenance the fort is getting bad to worse . so this is my request to the municipality that please keep the maintenance properly so that the coming generation can also see the great history of The Gohad Town. thank you.

The town is situated at a distance of 45 km from Gwalior.[1] UNESCO Asia- Pacific award for cultural heritage conservation 2017, sub category HONOURABLE MENTION OF INDIA(In m.p.) Gohad fort According to Alexander Cunningham and William Cook, people of the Jat caste from village Bamrauli (near Agra) settled the town of Gohad in 1505. This later developed into an important Jat stronghold. The Jat rulers of Gohad were awarded the title of rana. The Rana Jat ruler Singhandev II founded Gohad fort and the Gohad state in 1505. Gohad state had 360 forts and fortresses all around for the protection of their people. Out of these Gohad fort is most important and unique example architecture of Jat rulers. It had the same style of architecture as used by the Jat rulers in Bharatpur Fort.[2] Some old stories also mention that this fort was gifted to the Wazir of Scindia's Court, Shivaddin Pakhre for his years of service to the emperor. Currently the fort is under the ASI.
