Thali is very average. The rice quality isn't really upto the mark. Took a prawn biriyani too, that was pretty decent with good quantity. Though it looks very shabby from outside, the seating arrangement and ambiance is decent inside
An excellent stop and eat spot. The service is slow. Be prepared to wait for at least 30 minutes. The food is delicious and do try the king fish. The fish thali and vegetable mix were also excellent. The staff were friendly. FYI they did accept card for payment. Only gpay or cash, which was sort of annoying. Has ample parking space in and around the hotel.
We stopped by the Goan Bay on our trip from Panjim to Ponda via the Old Goa Highway. We were in the mood for something with authentic Goan flavors and Goan Bay was the perfect fit. Located just 5 mins away from The Basilica of Bom Jesus and can be easily found on the right-hand side just after the Karmali Station & Old Goa church junction while heading towards Ponda. We loved how everything on their menu was so affordable and mostly priced below Rs 300/- The restaurant serves a wide variety of Goan Preparations as well as Indian preparations. They do not serve alcohol as it is a family restaurant, however, the flavors in the food are enough to set the mood right. The staff is friendly and so is the owner Mr. Sanket, a local who will always serve you with a smile on his face and the humblest behavior. The restaurant can seat about 100-150 people and can be reserved for parties. They also provide buffet service for a minimum of 100 people. Leaving all this aside let's skip to the good part, Food! Here's what we tried: * Drinks: Lemon Soda Appetizers: * Calamari Batter Fry *Crispy Chicken *Malai Kebab Main Course: * Chicken Cafreal * Butter Roti The Calamari batter fry was fresh and crisp, it did not feel rubbery. Was served with a side of tartar sauce that went perfectly well. The crispy chicken had a slight hint of spicy, but not too spicy to ruin the dish. Topped with sesame seeds and cooked with capsicum. It was a perfect blend of spicy & sweet. The Malai kebab was one of the best we tasted in ages. Creamy, soft, tender boneless chicken served with a non-spicy coriander green chutney and a side of onion & lime. This dish was so pleasing to the mouth, we finished it in barely a minute. When we ordered the Chicken Cafreal, we never expected such a colorful and filled plate. The Cafreal was served with french fries, a vegetable salad, and a Goan pao bread. To be honest the flavors were so homely and traditional. We definitely recommend Goan Bay for an authentic Goan experience. The rates are reasonable and there is ample space to have a private party. We stopped by for a quick dinner at Goan bay. A multicuisine family restaurant serving Goan, Indian and Chinese. The place is located just on the main road in Old Goa highway and is perfect for family gatherings. Here's what we tried: 1. Squids batter fry 2. Chicken lollipops (loved this ones) 3. Prawns wafers 4. Jeera rice & chicken musallam combo The menu is nice & simple but combo options are not mentioned in it so ask them for their special combos.
*The whole ambiance is pretty comfortable and calm & descent for a family outing or with your friends. *Service is great & professional. *Food tastes amazing. *We tried -Chicken Crispy-Chicken Lollipop-Chicken Tandoori-Chicken Schezwan fried rice-king fish rawa fry-Chicken handi-Chicken Tikka masala-Stuffed Cheese Naan-Gobi Manchurian dry-mushroom xacuti- Mix veg gravy-Veg crispy *Chicken was cooked tender and juicy. *The crispy dishes were actually crispy & not soggy unlike rest. *Veg dishes were unexceptional. *The best in town for a complete family outings. *There is a pebble on every table that is hand painted & makes the place more attractive. *Price is reasonable as well.
Not a five star food. Ordered fish which is worth 400 a piece not at all tasty except this everything is good over here chicken thali and prawns biryani are worth trying. Overall a good food at mediocre range
Honestly there are quite a few options in an around Old Goa for a good goan meal especially suitable for families Goan bay is a place suitable for dining in with family and friends. The food here is good to taste. We tried the squids masala fry, cripsy chicken and kingfish fry for appetisers. The fish was fresh and good to taste. Also tried the special goan bay special with 3 types of fish within it and includes rotis and butter chicken along with other basic items. Service can improve, a little slow service but rest all fine.
