The atmosphere and sea waves are enjoyable but the beach is not that clean. You can see broken pieces of bricks everywhere. You can visit with your family and you can also take a bath here. The beach is at around 3-4 min walking distance from Kapil Muni Ashram.

Gangasagar is a great place..... pilgrims visit there for spritual belief...... though there is a sea beach, the place is stuffy.....we went there in March but it felt like summer season..... otherwise good place......one thing is impressive that in Kapil Muni temple there was no demand of pandas unlike the other temples...... Many hotels are available for staying .....one can also stay in Bharat sevasram...... good for weekend trip

Its a very holy place. You can just mesmerized here. There are lots restaurant and hotels. Here you can stay here. Just walking couple of minutes you can see a beach. If you want to take a shower, you can do on this beach.

People came from all over India during winter months to take a bath in river and then they worship in Kapil Muni temple. This is considered a holy place.

I have always been weak towards places which have spiritual connect, and in the recent times I have visited one such place which is considered sacred for centuries where people across the country come in search of holy blessings. Gangasagar mela is the place where people throughout day and night even in this chilly winter do everything possible to satisfy their search for divinity. The southern train which was heading Gangasagar mela was full with devotees in different attires coming from several walks of life. From their facial expressions and chit chat it was noticeable how eager there people were to take that holy dip in the sacred confluence and purify their lives. I am basically a late riser, bit the morning beauty even made me wake up early, we went to the ghat where devotees in huge numbers were taking dip into the water and chanting prayers. The holy mantras sounded so well that it created a majestic atmosphere all over. And the saffron clad sadhus, yogis, sannyasis roaming all around made a different scene altogether. What was surprising to me is that women and young children were equally enthusiastic to take part in this holistic experience. We also took some very good shots of the devotees and their various activities.
