Girivilas palace is a old palace with many memories. There is a good museum here with good collections. History lovers will love the place and is much informative. It is well maintained. The place is very calm and feels peace. But ordinary people are not allowed inside the palace. Common people are only allowed to visit the temple and the armory museum inside the temple. But they are not allowed to touch weapons inside the armorys section. The place is not busy on normal days. But on any occasion the place is overcrowded.

Beautiful palace from outside and surrounding to visit but no entry in palace for common people.

Antique & hold on its own, this gigantic historical palace is a must see if you happen to be in Sarangarh. Maa Samleshwari temple is adjacent to the palace, in its courtyard. Only thing missing is that the interior of the palace is not open for visitors to look at.

Girivilas is the most famous and prestigious palace of King :- RAJA NARESH CHANDRA SINGH In front of the place CBSE affiliated higher secondary school is made in the memory of the great king of Saraangarh as RNCS. It's the school I have been studied till 8th class and still the top most school of Saraangarh. On the left of the palace there is holy temple of Goddess : -Maa Samleshwari You will fill very energetic here. Palace is still under king's family( Mrs. Menka Devi ) So u need to have permission before you enter. But you can visit the school and temple till 8:00pm night no restrictions.

Arguably the most beautiful Palace in Chhattisgarh, Girivilas Palace of Sarangarh is a witness to the history of the town, the region, the Mutiny of 1857 and the independence movement. It has played host to people ranging from Veer Surendra Sai of Sambalpur (in 1857-9) to Dr Rajendra Prasad, the President of India, Verrier Elvin, and many more including the Prime Minister, Ministers, Governors, eminent Freedom Fighters, Authors and Academics. Currently it is the home of the Royal family of Sarangarh.
