Ginger restaurant - Guest house in Varanasi - Varanasi, India

I had the most amazing experience at Shiva Guest House in May. I stayed there for 3 nights with 2 of my girlfriends. 3 girls travelling India alone for the first time, but the owner Shiv and his family made us feel completely at home and safe. They showed us around and helped us orient our way so that we could have the most productive trip with the 3 days we had. The location is stunning, step away from the ghat. The rooftop patio overlooks the entire city and the river ganga. Overall, this is one of the best hostel facilities I've stayed at, in a great location that shows you the true Varanasi experience. would definitely recommend it.

Terrible place! The rooms are very different and dirty, not at all how it's shown in their pictures. It is inside a small and filthy lane, and the vicinity is extremely non hygienic. One should avoid such a place. On top of that, they have dirty food being cooked on the floor that they serve you. It can bring you severe diseases. As a wellwisher I request all of you, please stay safe and avoid Shiva Guest House. Thank you for considering my honest opinion and review for a safer stay at Varanasi.

We stayed at the guest house and had our dinner and breakfasts here on both days. The food was delicious and freshly prepared, a lovely little rooftop restaurant and the host is very accommodating to diner requests/preferences. The food is very reasonably priced. Highly Recommended!

Shiva Guesthouse was the best place I've stayed in India. The owners of the place are the most friendly people who care a lot about their guests having a good time. You can ask them anything and will always get honest answers and advice. The room was clean, the water was warm, the location is great - nothing to to complain about at all. Highly recommend!

Absolutely the best place to stay in varanasi! Extremely clean, great food, lots of hot water, excellent fan and AC, warm kind family run guest house. Shiva is very knowledgeable about the area and will do anything he can to help. We booked 2 nights, however on arriving we booked a further 5 nights as we just felt so at home! The location is perfect. 'Moon' took us for the sunrise boat trip and looked after us very well. If you're looking for somewhere to stay look no further ... and book!!!

Ginger Cafe is a lovely cozy restaurant on top of Shiva Guest House (where I stayed also) with a view on the Ganga (you can sit inside on comfy chairs or even outside), freshly prepared varieties of food and very nice management. It was great coming here again and again.

Best location, just 5 minutes walking to the main ghat. Very clean. Dorm or private rooms. Hot shower!!! Owners are super polite and helpfull. They have a rooftop restaurant with amazing food at a very good price. Highly recommended!

Quite an ugly place, but it's Varanasi / India... Don't expect to find somewhere really nice. The owner and his family are very nice people. Wifi is very slow and doesn't work sometimes. Doors don't close well, and get stuck... Both rooms had no toilet paper, and we had to go down 4 floors to ask for it.
