India's highest railway station and UNESCO heritage spot. It's well maintained however needs some attention from the Indian government to make it a tourist attraction. A museum is built to showcase old steam engine.

Heritage Railway Station with British appearance & German engine at store. An okay place to halt. India's highest, world's second highest (at the moment of writing this comment) railway station. So, definitely a place you'd want to see. But the long drive before & a not-so-short ride after, makes this worthy of only a quick stop on your way to Darjeeling.

Once upon a time it was the highest railway station, still it is the part of world heritage site. Toy train still moving through this station. Any day you can enjoy the train journey. There are two type of train, old steam engine and updated modern engine. If you want to enjoy in different way then you can come here at late night, you will feel that you reach to the spot from any computer game. If you want you can stay close to it, there are some home stay too.

A must visit for all people who love nostalgic ride through the loop line and the heritage toy train. It's the highest any train station is built. You should explore the joy ride from Darjeeling station to way back. Of course, it is a little costly but a ride worth a lifetime.

Quiet, hilly Ghoom is known for Buddhist sites with mountain views, including the Samten Choeling monastery, with its huge Buddha statue, and colorful 19th-century Yiga Choeling Monastery. The Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, or Toy Train, is a tiny, winding narrow-gauge railway with mini steam and diesel locomotives running from Ghum Railway Station, which has an adjacent museum, plus low-key eateries nearby.

I hopped aboard this amazing old steam engine heritage train, cruising through the stunning route from Darjeeling to Ghum and then back again. Ghum, sitting right in the middle of this magical journey, turned out to be quite a special spot. When we paused for 15 minutes at Ghum, I discovered some cool stuff at the station. There's this fascinating rail museum that spills the beans on the history of trains in the area. And if you needed a quick bite, there were a few fast-food joints to satisfy those cravings. What really impressed me was how spick and span the station was. Ghum station wasn't just a transit point; it was like a haven for anyone into selfies or posting on social media. The mix of the vintage steam engine and the tidy surroundings made for some fantastic pictures, capturing the vibe of a time long gone. As the train chugged along, the memories of Ghum stuck with me, turning a regular stop into a memorable part of the whole Darjeeling heritage train adventure. Ghum station, with its unique charm, added a special touch to the whole story of the journey.
