Ghat Of Haridwar - Featured Reviews (202)
Haridwar has been one of the major pilgrimages of Hindu devotees since time immemorial. It's the first town/city in the plains where Ganga ji (River Ganges) is seen. The water here is cleaner compared to further downward cities. It's cold even in the hottest summers. Thousands of Hindus visit this holy city to take a dip in the holy waters and hopefully purify their souls. There has been a lot of development here but it's still not enough to handle the huge crowds that come here daily. There are traffic jams and chaos all around, especially on an auspicious day like Shivratri. There are "pandits" who almost force you to do "special" pooja etc. It's really inconvenient and makes one feel uncomfortable. The eateries here have great food. Be it kachori, gulab jamun, tikki or sweet milk. The market has lots of light, one-time use clothing options to wear for the holy dip. The hotels are usually full in summers so better make an advance reservation. Last but not the least, the Aarti at the ghats is phenomenal and everyone must witness it at least once in their life. The atmosphere is electric, full of good vibes and the scene is almost out of this world.
Best ever place i had visitors in Uttarakhand. It have shopping streets and temples you must visit.
If you wished to dip in the flowing water of a river for religious matters. Visit the ghats of Harirdwar. Two things- 1. The water is more pure in its form here in Haridwar vs in other downward cities. 2. It feels fresh to dip in. Body rejuvenate.
Every evening, the Ghat comes alive with the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti, a captivating ritual where priests perform prayers with oil lamps and chants, creating a spiritual and enchanting atmosphere. The sight of hundreds of lamps floating on the river Ganges is a truly magical experience. Visiting the Ghat of Haridwar is not only a religious journey but also an opportunity to witness the vibrant culture and traditions of India. The place is bustling with devotees, sadhus (holy men), and tourists throughout the year, making it a vibrant and lively destination. However, due to its popularity, the Ghat can get crowded, especially during religious festivals like Kumbh Mela. It is essential to be respectful of the religious practices and keep the surroundings clean.
It is most popular and frequented Ghat of Haridwar. Very popular place every citizen should go for. Particularly for citizens there is wheel chair accessible which is very helpful. Dip in Ganges was absolutely wonderful.
