Nice place to visit with your group and loved one's. Gaur Niwas is really located at a beautiful location in Dhalpur. The place is really spacious and the place looks really beautiful with good seating options, available in open atmosphere as well as in room. The food quality is also fine. Just need to improve with quick food service.
This is a relatively hidden restaurant, unobtrusive and located behind the trendy Hot Spice Cafe. Located in an old, slightly untidy family mansion, it has a sprawling lawn and multiple options of indoor and outdoor seating. There's a dining hall on the ground floor, one on the first floor and several tables set under the old trees on the lawns. The food, however, is a disappointment. I ordered a hot chocolate, rajmah masala and roti. The hot chocolate was just about okay. The rajmah masala was incredibly bad. Overspicy, the gravy burned my throat and the beans were so soaked in spices, that I couldn't get the taste of rajmah. Local families favour the place and its lovely tree-shaded lawn makes for great loitering. But the food is definitely a miss. If you come here, stick to tea.

The space is open as well as closed and has overall a good vibe. The food quality is good "mostly", but could be better. Sometimes, it gets a little bad when there's a lot of rush, which can be avoided. A customer can wait that much, in my opinion. Staff is also good. Please improve food quality a little more.

Favorite place in Kullu town to sit down and share a meal and chai with friends (nice walk from the IMI ashram village of Shastri Nagar downriver a bit from this location in "Kullu" town aka Dhalpur --the restaurant only has outdoor seating (it seems--though Ive never investigated inside!) so go on a pleasant day and time. Its an old temple buildingarchitecture with gorgeous shade trees and a great view of the valley and mountains. I get malai kofta and stuffed naanand off course masala chai.

I was very glad to end my trip in HP here. The owner/chef is enterprising and kind. The cafe may look unusual but it has a great vibe. Would definitely recommend to all, especially travellers.
