One of the most stunning tourist attractions in the charismatic hill-station of Gangtok. The ropeway functions only for tourism purpose & not for transportation purpose. It's a return ride and you can enjoy some captivating views of the entire town and the surrounding Himalayan range on a clear day. The condition of the cable cars is quite good. Recommended.
Only visit in no option situation, because very worst behavior of ticket councellor. Risk is almost 50 - 50 , it depends on you but very short distance about 800mts each side. Price is chippest as other services in gangtok as well as Sikkim. But there is no seat so you can explore in it by standing, 20 people's capacity at a time. A very very short ride for 120 bucks. The view from the car is very beautiful. You can get a glimpse of how wonderful and pure the nature is around Gangtok. You could also see the main parts of the city and roadways. The down part is we need to stand in the car. Also, I feel its congested as they board nearly 12 to 15 people at a time.
The 800m Gangtok Ropeway running just near and above the National Highway offers a wonderful view to visitors. The busy city road, wonderful landscape around and high mountains are visible from above. It's a half an hour activity if not much crowded. Recommended to visitors.
Spectacular view of the entire city in this ropeway. It closes at 5pm so make sure u get in time as there will be long queue.
Really nice view. The place has a charm in the clear weather. You you'll have a magnificent view of the magnificent gangtok city and surroundings. However, in the foggy weather you'll have a different beauty completely in the clouds. Ticket price is a bit high considering the trip is pretty short. Otherwise it was a five star trip.
It is a good experience in the cable car getting the view of the mountains and the city while moving.
Unfortunately the rope way was closed due to annual maintainance when I was visited in November, rope way every year close between November and December due maintainance if u wish to visit here avoid these months the cost of ropeway per person is Rs 100
