Beautiful place. Their is a ropeway here. Scenery from ropeway is Beautiful, from the ground level to Gandhi Minar this facility is available. They charge Rs. 90 per adult for to and fro movement.
The Gandhi Minar is over 65 feet high, where you can enjoy the spectacular view of the dam. The Hirakud Ropeway provides a connection between Jawaharlal Udayan. The tower top has a mechanical arrangement which it move round.
The place can be maintained in a better way. Ropeway is the major attraction. Expect a wait time of 40-60 minutes. There is no control inside the minar, utter chaos and crowded. It badly needs supervision by guards or volunteers. The whole staircase is dirty, below the minar the water fountain area, toilet, food zone is extremely unkempt. Avoid visiting the place on public holidays.
Apart from Jawahar Minar there is another observatory on the other side of the dam named the Gandhi Minar. You can reach there by a car or a ropeway from Jawahar Udyan (priced at Rs. 80/- per person). However I would suggest to experience the ropeway as it will give a dynamic experience. The top of the Minar rotates thus enabling everyone to get a 360 degree view. This is fascinating and thrilling at the same time. I would highly suggest you to visit this place.
Excellent view of nature with man creation dam (Hirakud). We also find rope way facility in this "Gandhi Minar" and the park is also very mesmerizing.
Gandhi Minar is a peaceful and beautiful monument dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi. The surrounding gardens, mountain and greenery and other side Hirakud dam add to its charm. In Gandhi minar you can go with ropeway for better scenery to see the dam and the garden mountains. It's a good place for picnic, family trips and couples. But you need ticket for parking, garden, Gandhi minar top, ropeway.Definitely worth a visit!
A treat to watch one of the longest dam, hirakud in the world, built across the Mahanadi River. Offers mesmerizing views of the reservoir and surrounding landscapes. There is a ropeway to go to the top but then it takes time considering there is only 2 cabin each with max capacity of 4 people which work alternatively to take tourist up there and bring them back. Make sure you have enough time planned ahead to enjoy.
Although I have not did the adventure rides here but the atmosphere is enough to make you feel good...the road journey to reach the destination.. the greenery environment.. everything is perfect here .. western odisha is .
