Neater and less crowded than Marina beach. Light house is nearby. Enjoyable and police patrol is somewhat more than required. No boats and no fishy smell. Nice place to spend evening time peacefully.
Best beach to visit. way better than Marine beach. Not crowded not empty either. Ocean is near the road. So you Don't have to walk 1km or so like marine beach. Near the lighthouse. Must visit.
Gandhi beach which is just adjacent to Marina Beach. There is nothing special other than plenty of food stalls. Compared to Marina Beach, it is a little less crowded. This beach is a long beach, where you have to walk for at least 5 to 10 minutes continuously in sand, Then you come near the sea water.

Took our kids to this beach and was horrified to see a very dirty sea shore. Saw some things that appeared to be the last rites being performed in this place. I was apprehensive to send kids to play in the water as the garlands, half burnt wooden pieces were all over the place. Very disappointing to see people eating and throwing the polythene bags and covers in the very place they eat. Entire Marina area looks dirty and unhygienic.
This is a clean and well maintained beach. It's a considerably long beach and it attracts lots of locals and tourists. It's best to visit in the evening. You will find several families and groups of friends having a good time here. The beach has several food stalls and lots of games and find activities for kids.
A long stretch of beach in Chennai. This beach could be kept clean. Nice view of the ocean and ideal to take a long walk. Paid parking and it close to the fishing beach which is close by. You can also see the Chennai Lighthouse from Gandhi Beach.
Great place to be in the early mornings. The amount of people who jog, train are huge. A wonderful place to jog or just calmly sit and enjoy the waves. Don't miss to see small crabs on the beach front. Ensure you reach before 6 am. Overall an enjoyable experience.
