We visited the Ashram while me and my friend were on our all India tour. The ashram is well maintained and has captured significant moments from the past that depict Gandhi's contribution and personality well. It's a good place to hang around too if you want some personal quite time. There is ample parking available. Best to visit before 5PM since it closes by 6PM. Definitely recommended Visited on 11.04.2023 Reviewed on 11.07.2023
Calm, clean, well maintained place. Nature blessed the ashram by means of the river and trees. Gandhi museum captured several historical movements with photos and illustration. You can enjoy the place irrespective of your ideology or religion.
It's a serene experience. Beautiful river view. Museums. You will get to see different Spinning wheels from Gandhi's time. People here consider him equivalent to god I guess since I saw few elderly women touching his feet ,folding hands Infront of his statute for blessing. Gandhi's house was there. If your are curious enough to visit. Spotted some foreigners too. Anyway ,great couple spot. It's a big place without much disturbance. So can take your girlfriend and spend some time talking in the staircase ,looking at the Sabarmati river. Overall experience is good inside the Ashram. But not outside it. You can't find a restaurant nearby. So have your breakfast, lunch before going.
Well maintained, very neat & clean, meditative, silent & aligned with Gandhi Spirit. Simplicity is the best. No tickets are required. Sufficient parking. Must visit Khadi bhandar they have very good handcraft stuff. Food restaurants are across the road, in front of ashram.
Sabarmati Ashram is located on the bank of sabarmati river, 6 km from the town hall. This was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi lived at sabarmati and sevagram. calm, clean, well maintained place with nature blessed ashram with river and trees. Gandhi Museum with several historical movements with photos and illustrations. Good place with traveller friends and family. All amenities like reading room, clean wash rooms and place to relax.. Nice place to visit and spend 3 to 4 hours to learn and life of Mahatma.
It was a good feeling to go back in time to experience history by being there. The place has been well maintained with lots and lots of things from that time. The place provides good amount of information with relatable timelines along with pictures from those particular events. The verandah provides an amazing view of river front and a lot of greenery keeps the place lively. This place is a must visit for all the history lovers.
Amazing place to learn and see through many aspects of Gandhiji's life story and hence our history. If you are a reader, reach early by at least 2pm to read. It closes at 6pm. souvenirs and paper products are also available.
Peaceful, calm & serene... Visited the Ashram on a weekday, though it is located right in the middle of the city, it was so peaceful inside. There's something about the vibes of this place. "The greatness of this man was his simplicity, let's try & discover the Gandhi in ourselves "......many of us must be familiar with these lines, it was a common broadcast on Doordarshan during Gandhi Jayanti. You can actually sit here for hours & let your brain unwind. The picture gallery & museum takes you to the days of India's freedom struggle & reminds you of the hardships & sacrifices of the freedom fighters under the leadership of this lean, old man in white outfit, the Father of the Nation. The Ashram is very well maintained, clean & neatly labelled . There's a bookshop & a souvenir shop as well. Most of the places of historical importance have entry tickets & parking tickets. But theres no entry ticket here. Must visit place if you're in Ahmedabad .
Gandhi Ashram Located in Ahmedabad of Ahmadabad. The complete address is Gandhi Ashram, Gandhi Smarak Sangrahalaya, Ashram Rd, Ahmedabad, Gujarat 380027.
In 1818, the British East India Company entered the scene and took over the city from the Marathas. However, the Indian Independence movement laid deep foundations in the city in 1915 when Mahatma Gandhi set up the Kochrab Ashram near Paldi.
Dr. Dipti Jain is truly a gem. I have some major issues for which she guide me to my best. Never a dull moment with her. She listens very calmly, explains things in a manner that we understand. I blindly trust on her.
