Gadkhali "The Ferry Ghat" - Gateway to Sundarbans, It's very important Place cause this is last place connected thru roads here onwards Ferry are available to connect with Gosaba island and others. Interestingly there are 102 Island in this Area, whereas 54 are habitant with People and rest 48 are with animals i.e. Abode of Royal Bengal Tiger. there's lot of Resorts available in Gosaba island for Sundarban tourist. Gadkhali Ferry ghat connect those 54 Islands, every 10-15 minutes there's ferry to transport people from one side to other side and very nominal rates 5-6 Rs/person/side. from here, Tourist also embark their journey for Sundarban tour.
From here you can start your journey of Sundarban. We went here from Canning station. And we reached Canning station from Sealdah . At Canning station you will find lot of tourist operator offering Sundarban tour
There are one floating still jetty and a number of fixed concrete jetties. One has to alight from the boat / vessel & also board the same, where there may be a difference of level of 1 feet or more between the boat / vessel & the ghat, depending on the river tide. Further, if one finds it easy to alight from the boat / vessel, while boarding it may become difficult due to the change of water level in the river during the time that has elapsed. There is lack of lighting facility on the fixed jetties, making it difficult to use them after sunset.
Started Sunderban tour from Gadkhali Ferry Ghat and spent 2days tour with great pleasure Now it's return time on 5/2/23
Needs proper maintenance, an important centre of communication for the sundarban area.
The gateway to Sunderbans, the Gadkhali Ferry Ghat is an important place for the local citizens and tourists alike. To reach the Ferry, you need to get down at the Canning Railway station, hire a bus or something and ride on it for some 30 kilometres or so. The ride is a horrible experience with the broken roads and rash drivers. The Ferry Ghat is just like any other ferry in India, with litter lying all around thanks to insensitive tourists and locals alike. From here you can get on passenger boats to go to Gosaba and other places or if you're a tourist, board your boat and get ready for the Sunderbans trip.
It's the entry point of Sundarban. From this Ferry Ghat you have to board on any Mechanised Boat or Launch to visit Sundarban Jungle. This is also a green zone and use of plastic etc is highly restricted. Come and visit the beautiful delta of Sundarban. Thanks
